How important are sights when it's up close & personal?

Ruger has the LCP .380 and Colt has the New Agent.

Ruger sights are more like little bumps, very hard to see.
Colt has 'The Gutter System' for sights, almost non-existant.

More of a point and shoot method.

Is this a new trend?

The sights on my KT P3AT are just little bumps too. For close quarters --I agree--Sights would not be needed.
My KT is also my EDC gun when something bigger would be hard to conceal.
I pu a bottle of hot pink flourescent model paint and put a little dab on the front sight. Really helps my aging eyes for sight aquisition for further distances.

Within arms reach I don't think sights are all that important. Beyond that range, I've always felt they were put there for a reason and should be used if at all possible.

in my experience, sights at any range are useless to me, as I can't hit a barn even if I shoot from the inside.......seriously tho', at a few feet, time doesn't allow much aiming, and we ALL should practice a little shooting by "point & shoot" only.....

Use a laser... When you're up close, you a) don't want the gun up at eye level to sight it; b) don't want your arms outstretched to sight it; c) don't want to take the time to sight it.

You want to hold it in close with two hands, then "point to shoot".

I use my sights for most of my training but, I have my j-frame as a belly gun, short range, point & shoot -- no sights necessary

Lot of old pocket guns from the turn of the 20th century have channel sights or a shotgun bead front sight only. It's not 'new.'

Anything closer than 3 yards I dont bother with front sight. It will get hit unless Im totally blotto from the coffee that morning.
