Sorry to ask what may be a repeat question, but I have searched the net without success, and haven't been able to make the search function on this site work...I recently purchased a Glock 21, which was sold to me as a "first generation" gun...How can I confirm this? Also, is there a way to tell by serial number the year the gun was manufactured?

Thanks!

theyr are no first gen glock 21's that i know of they started making the 21 in the second gen of glocks , go www.glocktalk.com in general glocking they have a thread that tells when alot of the glocks were manufactured by the serial number prefix.

According to the serial number project on the Glocktalk website, the G21 first appeared in December of 1990 as a 2nd generation model. Look for the first 3 letters of your serial number and it will tell you when it was made.

Thanks for the responses- I used the topglock site to confirm a year of 1996 for the manufacture of my particular gun. I appreciate all your help!
