When was my newly acquired 586 born?

I've wanted a 586 for years, but it was always a matter of A) being broke or B) no one had any to sell.

Anyway, on Tuesday, there was a magical alignment of celestial bodies which enabled me to bring one home.

Now that I have it, I'd like to know when it was born. SN is AHP61XX.

SN AAAxxxx started in 83, I do not have my book at work but someone does, near 85-86 i think.

ABF 3XXX it still is a sweet shootin' six incher.
i bought mine march '82 or '83 (maybe '84, but i kinda doubt it.) i don't remember for sure, i have slept since then. i remember they were pretty new then, to S&W's lineup, then.

When was S&W owned by Bangor Punta? I've heard that for the particular time period that S&W was owned by them, S&W quality was somewhat suspect.
