Yeah, they are getting more prevalent but I'm trying to find a company that has CCI small rifle primers AND Varget so I can save on shipping. Not much luck yet.

BTW Which brand makes the best plated bullet IYO? Is one more well respected by the folks in the know? Or once you get to Rainier, Berrys, or Xtreme, theyre all in pretty much the same category?

This is just my opinion ...

For now, I think Speer Gold Dot is the best "expanding" plated HP bullets for defensive loads. All other HP plated bullets should not be considered for defensive loads due to expansion issues. I think it will be interesting to see what Berry's MFG does with their new "expanding" HP line.

I think Speer TMJ and PowerBond plated bullets may have an edge over other plated bullets but they are more pricy.

Berry's Hollow Base Thick Plated bullets are on par or greater in accuracy than jacketed bullets.

Rest of plated bullets such as Berry's regular/Rainier/X-Treme bullets are good for plinking so I buy whichever is lower in cost.

If I want accuracy, I use Montana Gold jacketed bullets.

I keep hoping things will get better so we won't need this thread but in some ways, I think things are getting worse! I mean, we SHOULD be moving out of "The Great Shortage" by now but I still can't find any W231/HP-38 and haven't seen Varget in a while ... And will we see any CFE Pistol this year?

Well, until then, we can all continue to network and help each other obtain the components we need to enjoy our hobby/passion.

I guess I have just been spoiled being able to get it from Powder Valley for $106 for 8LBS.
