I've been looking into buying a new 9mmNATO pistol for CC/duty use. I want a hammer fired DA only pistol with a tactical rail and if possible a ambi slide/mag release. I see that in the new 2007 catalogs-websites for major handgun companies like; S&W, Ruger and Beretta they seem to no longer carry all the DA only semi auto pistols the once did. Guns like the Beretta 92/96 D models, the Ruger KP95DAO, P-94DAO, Smith 4046, 4586 etc.

I like the SIGarms DAK P-226/229R series and the HK P-2000 line but I do not want to spend a lot.

I'd think the LE/private sector market for DA only pistols would be stronger in the USA. :scrutiny:

Thanks!

The Beretta 8000 Cougar was re-released not too long ago under a different name (Stoeger I believe) for about half the cost of the original Beretta. I pretty sure it is available in DAO. A friend of mine picked one up on sale at Gander mountain for $299.99 brand new not too long ago. My dad was even looking at one this weekend at a Gun show.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say that DAO pistols are less common anymore because they are being replaced with striker-action pistols like those found in Glocks, XDs, etc. In actual use they are just like a double action, but have more opportunities to implement safeguards than what a plain DAO gun probably does.
