Greetings,

I wanted to find out from you guys if the gun-owner / shooting community is still boycotting KMART.

I know that Rosie Odonnel *was* their spokesman and for this reason that as a group we stopped dealing with them. However I have not seen Odonnel do her thing with them in a loooong time and so I was wondering what the status was.

In addition I'd like to know of any websites devoted to listing anti-gun companies or places that do not deserve my business.

Thank you,
Charles

They fired O'Donnel, but then they knuckled under to Michael Moore to stop selling handgun ammo. Probably depends on who you ask.

Personally, I just hate K-Mart on general principles, so I never really noticed the boycotts beginning or ending.

Wouldn't matter either way for me. Here in San Antonio, KMart rolled up the rug and left town, no stores left to not shop at.

Wal-Mart is just as bad.

DETROIT (AP) -- Kmart will sell up to 54 of its stores to Sears, Roebuck and Co. for a maximum of $621 million, the retailer said Wednesday... The announcement came less than a month after Troy-based Kmart announced it was selling up to 24 stores to Home Depot for as much as $365 million.

And they will do what with them? Sell more junk?

Sears and Home Depot bought the buildings, basically.

Sears' new strategy is to get out of the malls and into big boxes like Home Depot and Best Buy are.

c_yeager, can you specify what handgun ammo you buy at which Kmart?

I'm gonna say .22 doesn't count. It is rifle ammo, after all. :)

For me it was morethan the RosO link. IIRC, the person in charge of Kmart made some anti comments. No change (that I know of) since then so I've never bought from then since before their bankruptcy even though I like Fed Lightning over Rem and Win.

It sounds to me like wheather it is due to boycott or simple mismanagement, they are rapidly becoming a small part of history.
I think WallyWorld has driven just about all their competitors out of bussiness.
Just like any situation where there is no competition, their quality has gone down, so WalMart is now pretty much a poor choice for anything, but often the only choice left.

Pretty much all the K-Marts around here folded, but I have seen other people on THR talk about buying handgun ammo there, so either they're using some creative definitions of what constitutes "handgun ammo" or they've just decided to rescind their agreement with Moore.

I hate K mart.

I shop at Walmart BECAUSE they carry ammo, if I buy it there or not. And every few months I email them and thank them for that.
