There's been some daytime break ins in our area...got me thinking about my pistol safe in the master bedroom...kind of obvious place to look..although it's screwed to the wall,if someone had a crow bar ,they could rip it off the wall....so where do you guys keep your HD guns??A false drawer.....under the bed......false wall??Give me some suggestions..thanks..TonyB:cool:

I "hide" my handguns in a Cannon pistol safe bolted in the cabinet area of our bed wall unit.

Yes, it's in plain sight if you open the cabinet door, and it could be pried out with a crowbar, but it offers the safety I need with my son and other kids frequently in the house. The safe has a combination lock with no key, so I don't have to worry about somebody finding a key and getting into it.

Regarding the theft threat, I'm just hoping that if someone does ever break in, he'll be scared off quickly by the incredibly loud audible alarm. Then maybe he won't have time to snoop around, find the safe and pry it loose. And even if he does, he'll have a locked, inaccessible steel box with my driver's license number engraved on the back.

One is in this mounted to the frame of my bed. The bed spread covers it very nicely and it is quick and silent to get to in the middle of the night. I removed the hindged flap that is shown in the picture, so mine looks like a plain drawer when it is open. I think the hinged flap would be needed if the safe was to mounted in another position other than shown in the picture, as to keep what ever is in it from binding up the drawer. As I mentioned, mine is mounted to my bed frame and pulls out like a desk drawer so the hinge flap was not needed and only got in my way when opening the safe when laying in bed.

Well, the 45 is in the nightstand. Not locked down at all. There is,however,a pump shotgun mounted over the bedroom door. Its behind a flower arrangement/picture thingy that hides it very well.Just reach up & grab. You'll never even know its there.

At night, mine sits next to my bed, on the floor. During the day, it's in my closet, in a little keypad safe. It's bolted to the wall, but could probably easily be pryed off. I hope no one breaks in...:D

In various undisclosed locations, easy for me to get to, but not out in the open. Not near any entrances where an invader might discover them, more toward the interior of the house. A lower shelf of a bookcase on top of books, for example, where you have to bend down to see it. There are NEVER any children in the house, we don't even live in a neighborhood where a little kid could wander in. We're on a hilltop surrounded by thick oak trees, sagebrush and poison ivy. :D

Here's what I saw in ebay that was interesting. Better than a safe.

Peace,

If you post the location of your hiding place to the world on the internet then what's the purpose of hiding it?

I never understand this sentiment. Any criminal willing to invest so much time and effort into stalking someone online and exhaustively researching the life and doings of that person, possibly sorting through tens of thousands of posts on places like this and elsewhere, isn't exactly going to be deterred because your safe is just a bit hidden.

Mine sits on the nightstand, but I remember reading about guys that would secure it to the clothes bar in the closet with a set of handcuffs. One braclet around the bar and the other thru the trigger guard and around the hammer. Even more secure if you use hinged cuffs.

Around here, clothes bars just lift right up and off. Not much security, but as far as being out of sight that would probably work okay.

No, but just a quick read will give the thief ideas of exactly where to look first.

Not really. If the thief does break-ins for a living then he already has a good idea where to look. Even then it's still a good idea to make it as hard as possable for him to find stuff.

At night I have a Winchester 1300 leaning on the nightstand, the wife has her .357.

We're semi-remote and the occasional weirdo will wander up to our place to see what it is...an easy target for burglery (til they see my army of dogs that is). We don't have any neighbors to keep an eye on our place either. So during the day my wife and/or I wear a gun for easy access. If we leave the property, all guns go in the safe. If you have guns a good safe is priceless.

I don't know where to begin. Since my wife and I have yet to have any kids I prefer to stash gun strategically around house. I don't like wearing a gun when I am home especially when I am wearing pajamas.

When I'm home, near me.

When I'm not home, in my safe. To make life easier for anyone that tries to steal my safe, I epoxied weights to the bottom.

If anyone tries to swipe my guns, the cost of back surgery will cost more than the value of my firearms.

In a cheap holster mounted to my beframe. I used to have one on the other side of the bed because I'd sleep next to the wall when I had a girl in bed, but I've since changed rooms and dont have my bed against the wall, so I always sleep on the "gun side." My mossberg is simply leaned in the corner by my chest of drawers. Its not really hidden, but not eaxctly exposed either. Boith go in the safe when I leave the house.

One is in this mounted to the frame of my bed.
Bookmarked. Thanks for the link.

Hes gonna have a hard time getting a look under my bed with me in it.

I think it was Gunsite that used to say, "If you ever find yourself more than 3 feet from a gun, we haven't done our job."

They certainly wouldn't feel that they've done their job with me, but I keep that in mind in my house. I have guns stashed so that no matter where I am, I can retreat to a location with a firearm.

For example:
1) Shotgun in my bedroom behind the headboard on my wife's side. You can't see it. Seven rounds total. Cruiser Ready.

2) Full-sized, high-capacity handgun in my bedroom between the mattress and box spring with two extra magazines. 48 rounds total. Condition 1.

3) 3oz Pepper Spray in coat closet.

4) .25 caliber pea shooter stashed under the closed lit of our coffee table in the living room.

5) .44 Magnum revolver in hidden compartment in the wall. Ever see those frames that are actually hinged storage compartments? It's something like that. This is close to the back yard where beasties roam.

6) 9mm, 10 rounds handgun under loading bench. I always have this terrible fear that someone will sneak up behind me while I have a disassembled .308 in my hands. I've even got headlines made up for when the police find my body.

I know. No bathroom gun? Don't need one. Ever see a naked guy run out of the bathroom with a straight razor? Terrifying.

Don't forget the knives.

The only thing I can get to easier than a weapon is a flashlight: two in the kitchen, two in the hall, one in the livingroom, four, no five, wait there's six in the bedroom if you count the LED light in the shark's head, one in the basement, one if by land, two if by sea and I with a 10 million candlepower spotlight shall be...

Disclaimer: some of what I said was actually true.
