Greetings,

Been out of the game for about 10 years but kept my press and dies and just got set up. I'm in need of brass, bullets, powder and primers. Where is the go to for all things reloading now a days? A one stop shop that sells polish, dies, accessories etc... would be a plus.

Loading .40, 9mm, 5.56, 7.62x51

For an extra bonus has anyone every reloaded blank rounds? Like for film or re-enactments? If so school me I'm looking to make 8mm blanks for a kar-98

For a one stop shop Midway or Brownells may have what youre needing. Price may not necessarily be the best even considering one shipping charge.

I generally get most of my powder and primers from Powder Valley or Grafs.

I shoot mostly lead and when I buy pre-made I order most lead from Missouri, jacketed from RMR.

Midway and Brownell's are my main sources. For the most part, they have what I am looking for and I'm not interested in spending time searching the net to save a percent or two.

I like Starline for brass. I like Berry plated bullets. Missouri Bullets for cast lead bullets although I've re-activated casting at home for several bullets.

Graf & sons here for supplies.

RMR and Montana Gold for bulk handgun jacketed bullets.

For 8mm blanks, I would try running '06 cases into a 8mm trim die (leave the .30 cal. portion intact).
A .32 auto roll crimp die (that you shorten - or ream out the bottom of the die) could be used to roll the crimp on the nose after you add powder and a wad (glued into place).
The .30 caliber neck should act as a false bullet.
Can't help with powder charge selection though.

where in MI are you at? If you are close to northern Oakland County- Wally at Hunter's In Sight has everything you need in the store at decent prices (primers/powder/brass/bullets/presses/etc)

Online-
Powder/Primers from Powder Valley
Graf is PV is out
Jacketed Bullets - RMR
Led Bullets- MBC

Brass - well I have 12 Homer Buckets that I processed while we have been in our Shelter in Place demands...so Brass I am well stocked on. If you need it- Let me know, I'm in Waterford and can drop in USPS if you need it somewhere else in the mitten.

As those above have commented on, there are a bunch of vendors selling all things reloading. If I were you now would be the time to use my internet fu and search out the best deals. There has been a smallish run on components as of late so if trying to one stop shop you are going to definitely pay a steep premium IMO. Searching out deals and buying in bulk ( if one can afford it) has been my mode of operation for many years and has payed off.
In the trading post area there are members selling brass and bullets. Ammoseek is a search engine you can search to look for ammo and components as well. Welcome back and have fun!

One thing to be aware of if ordering online, is that you'll have hazmat on powder and primers. So bear that in mind, and maybe maximize the order to offset the cost -- 8 # jug instead of 1, etc. Another thing is that Midway will sometimes ship powder and/or primers in different shipments as they drop ship from different vendors and there may be additional hazmat.
For powder/primers I normally go to Powder Valley, Grafs and sometimes MidSouth or Natchez. For components, tools, etc - Midway, Grafs, and all the others.

Are casting your own bullets challenging or costly to get into?

Im just outside of Ann Arbor so a day trip is very reasonable Ill have to check that place out. I always prefer local cash transactions.

Will do, Id be looking for 9mm, .40, and 5.56 brass

For common calibers you mentioned maybe look into once fired brass. I've used brass man and capital cartridge in the past with no issues.

yeah Wally's shop is about 70-75 minutes from you. Basically 75N to M15- east 6 miles by the Ford Dealership
give them a call and let them know what you are looking for...He's an avid reloader as well as a avid shooter- He stocks everything lol.

I guess the biggest cost is finding cheap lead. Generally it is some kind of scrap. Wheel weights used to be readily available but tire shops have gone away from lead wheel weights. Some folks mine rifle range back stops for lead.

You can get started relatively inexpensive with a small iron pot, a camp stove, dipper and a Lee mould. Lee sells some push through sizers that use a single stage press and have a couple of simple lubricating systems.

But there are lots of higher end equipment that make the job easier and faster that also raise the capital cost.

Just note, casting is dangerous. It needs to be done in a well ventilated space and you are dealing with 600-700 degree material.

I get my tools, accessories and equipment from Midway or Brownells. I usually buy my powder and primers from Powder Valley.

Lead is where you find it. Ask your friends, family and co-workers to watch for you. I call it "networking". It can be slow to get started but it works. Educate yourself on the things that lead are used for and always be looking. Its availability varies by the part of the country that you live in.

I buy a lot of my bullets from Everglades Ammo. Great customer service, good prices and good bullets. The other stuff and name brand bullets I buy from Mid South Shooters Supply or Midway or Brownells.

Primers / powder - Powder Valley. Typically in a quantity to minimize the haz mat (max volume of powder and primers)

I generally buy on-line enough powder and/or primers to minimize the effect of the HazMat fee.

There are one or two vendors that are regulars at local gun shows where I can get small amounts of powder and/or primers without directly paying the HazMat fee. This is where I buy a pound or two of powder to try for a new application.

The effects of the HazMat fee can also be minimized if you can dove tail orders with friends.

Finally, at least in my part of the world, local gun stores do not carry squat with regards to primers and powders. I'd waste more money running around town looking for what I'd want instead of just ordering on line and sucking up the HazMat penalty.
