Where to Buy .338 Lapua Mag Rounds?

Oh, I'm sorry... my link points to brass, not loaded ammumition.

Skunk, I know you're one to 'sniff out' the possibilities before jumping in feet first but I really think if you do end up getting a 338 Lapua, you'll quickly want to start reloading. At least that cartridge. ;) 338 bullets are relatively cheap as is the powder. The brass, esp from Lapua, and the loading is outrageous so much so that I was sure you were asking about brass.

Ouch.

Skunk, countersniping some commie 1200 yards away: "This is going to hurt me a lot more than it's going to hurt you..."

(riding into the sunset with moped because I had to sell the Crisis Response Vehicle to buy ammo)

You might be better off with a .338 Win Mag. I don't know what the performance difference is, but you could probably gussy up some elk rifle into a "tactical" setup with a black synthetic stock and a Harris bipod. And, you can buy .338 Winchester at most quality sporting goods stores.

I thought about the .338 Win Mag. I looked at the .338 Lapua Mag trajectory from their website and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference until past 1000 yds? So maybe I'll just go .300 Win Mag or maybe even 'only' .308?

Man...338 Win Mag sounds so...dope. :D

If you plan to shoot at about 1000-1200 yards regularly (but not farther), a .300 WM should do just fine. If you're going to shoot less than 1000 yards most of the time, better to stick with .308. A lot cheaper whether reloading or buying off the shelf.

When Norma is the "economy" brass, you know it's expensive!!!
Another option for long range is the 30-378 Weatherby. Brass is about the same price, but bullets are a tad cheaper.
Honestly though, do you expect to routinely shoot at targets more than 1/2 a mile away using a rifle with pounding recoil or a deafening muzzle brake?
I'd get a .308 and learn the trajectory with a given load and a LOT of practice ammo.

.338 Lapua is like the .50AE Desert Eagle.. works really well in Counterstrike and Raven Shield, not so well IRL.

You would be 100x better off taking a rifle class or two or three from Gunsite or similar and then buying a nice, but more available rifle/caliber.

I dont know - maybe you have the skill for such a gun, maybe you would get a lot out of it, but I have trouble imagining what I would do with one.

I want a 45-70 lever gun because I cant imagine ever shooting anything beyond about 200 yards.

But thats just me and I am only thinking of piggies and bambi's.
