I want a converted Saiga 7.62x39 AK, which online vendor is the best? I'am ruling out AIM because I have read too many posts saying they are not putting a bullet guide.

I'll echo in and ask... where did you get your Saiga conversion kit and rifle?

I'm asking different people where they got their stuff - I'm trying to find the best deal/best experience before I buy.

Thanks all!

I got my Saiga from classicarms.us (before they went out of stock)

most of my parts I got from tapco. (stock, SAW pg, G2 Trigger group, PG nut and screw, etc)

most people say the k-var stocks are better.

bullet guide from dinzagarms.com

all in all, plus a 30 rd mag, something like $130 or $160 after shipping.

I got mine from Centerfire Systems just recently. It is the "sporter" version, however. I paid $249 plus the usual extras. They sell the converted ones also.

depends

It depends upon the conversion you want. I was all set to buy a pistol grip converted saiga until I held one with the new russian skeletonized stock and it felt much better to me, you may disagree. This allowed me to do a much easier conversion than if you want a standard one. I got a slightly used Saiga (16 in in 7.62) for $250 (in a local gun store) I then purchased a skeleton stock for 75 dollars and a non pistol pistol grip fcg from Dinzag as well as a bullet guide totalling 95 dollars. These are without shipping which was extremely reasonable. It takes about one hour to put it all together and is mighty nice if you ask me. It's much easier because you have no need to change trigger location and only need to swap the stocks and fcg then drill and tap for the bullet guide.

* I must warn you in my configuration you may only use US made hi cap mags inorder to be 922r compliant*

I am not concerned because I have a few promags that have been great at the range. You can also order a gas piston and Galil forearm both of which require no mods to the gun and you are good to go because the skeletonized stock is not a "pistol grip" and only requires four "us made pieces". If this concerns you you can always use standard ak mags and change out the follower "i think" at a cost of three bucks each and be good to go.
Personally my handgun is my go to "bump in the night" gun and the next step up is my 12 gauge. By the time I needed my AK the last thing I would worry about is 922r compliance and would press my steel ak mags into service. Their only their for a shtf scenario anyway.

Sagia - slightly used $250
Bullet guide- $25
Fire control group- $70 (2 compliance parts)
skeletonized stock- $75
promag- $15 ( 3 compliance parts)

Total: $435 and about one hour of work.

*remember 922r complaince and it only works if you rather the skeletonized stock as I do*

As has been previously said:
You can buy a sporter saiga
You can buy a real converted saiga
You can buy a kind-of converted saiga (which forces you to use US mags)

conversion takes about 4 hours if you take a couple 1 hour breaks. Parts can be purchased in group buys on the saiga forums, or individually. If you do the conversion yourself you will know exactly how everything works, AND when you want to change out parts you'll know exactly how to do so.

I've personally converted two 762's and one S12. take my advice and do your own conversion, you'll be very happy you did and you can spend the money you saved on ammo :)
