I have a C&R license, and am looking for a 8mm Mauser, probably a Yugo M48. I did a search of the sites I usually buy from, but they appear to be all out of stock. Has the supply dried up?

Who has them?

I got a nice one from CDNN. I think they still have them. If you have a C&R, they give you a small discount also.

Many people here also have them and if you put a want ad in the classified section, I'm sure you will find one if the dealers are all out.

Which is more desireable, the Yugo M24/47 or the M48?

I'm not sure whice is more desireable but M-48 or a M-48A are both nice rifles. All Mausers are decent so you might as well choose based on price and what you like.

The way I look at surplus guns is, I buy whatever is the cheap thing at the time as long as I like it and want it. Right now, there are several great guns that are going for dirt cheap prices. They are not cheap because they are junk, it is just that they imported a bunch of them and the market is flooded right now. Once the supply starts to dry up on some of these, the prices will skyrocket. Look for price to go up on some of these in the near future: Yugo SKS, Mosin Nagant M91/30, Yugo M-48, and Swiss K-31s. There are other rifles that are good deals right now but the above come to mind as being very good buys right now. The good thing about the M-48As is that often you are getting a like new gun for a great price. The condition on these is the best selling point as they have little historic interest and are not really unique in terms of Mausers.

I got a like new M-48A with a non-matching bolt for about $70.00. That is just insane! I find myself buying guns now just because I can't beleive the prices. When I can get a first class bolt action for less than $100, I don't see a downside to it. These prices are not going to be around forever and someday we will look at these years as the last of the golden years for military surplus. After the fall of the U.S.S.R., we had alot of guns imported that we hadn't seen in years. MOst of Europe's supply has been imported and the next generation of rifles are mostly going to be full auto stuff so good luck! Buy now because I promise you, someday you will be kicking yourself for sleeping at the wheel when prices were at record lows.

It was at CDNN about 1 year ago. I just heard that they are totaly sold out of Yugo M-48s. I guess the supply may be thinning out a little. No big deal, there are other Mausers on the market for not much money. The Turk Mausers are really nice, I know that most are in poor shape but it was a well made Mauser. It is longer than a Yugo M-48 but that helps to soak up some of the recoil of the powerful 8mm Turk ammo.

What I do is, I buy every gun that I know is crazy cheap whether I need it or not. When you can get a working bolt action rifle from WWII for $40-80, it is hard not to do it. Some of the M-44s are still at $39.95! For $40, there may be nothing else quite like it! $40 won't buy buy much these days but it will but a well made WWII battle rifle.:D

i think wildalaska has one of mitchells yugo m48s in his shop.

its in very nice condition. pretty sure it has a bayonet with it.

check this out

you ought to check out Mitchell's mausers . He apperantly has top quality M48's at reasonable prices and is a reputable dealer. My dad say's he knows a gun dealer that carried his stuff and all of his weapons where the best that my dad had seen.
