Nightrcrawler, bingo on the claim of not answering the question.
My apologies, I try not to do such on these forums. Sometimes
it just comes out though. Should have left it completely alone
I suppose by my own self imposed rules.
But, since the poster mentioned both a .357 and 44 I assumed
he doesn't have one yet. And having the shorter 357 it just
sprung to mind that he was talking about lots of trouble and
possibly expense for something pretty minor. Also occured to
me he had handled only the 44, which is longer, and thought
both versions were this length.
Taking an inch or even two off the butt seemed a better way to
do the same thing. While maintaining the full sight radius, barrel
length and magazine capacity. For the price of sawing and
cleaning up the cut section of the stock. Or basically for nothing.
For that matter, if I knew his purpose I might have other things
altogether to suggest. Like a Ruger PC4, which is already the
length he wants, with more rounds, in a good caliber. Or if space
to store or conceal is the idea, maybe one of those folding
Keltec Sub2000's. Folds up to 16 inches total length.
But again, there I go answering questions not asked and making
possible suggestions because I didn't know the full details of
what was being asked for by the original poster. Sorry......
