Hello, bought a new Marlin Model 60 .22LR rifle.

Upon taking it apart I did notice that all that hold the lower assembly down is a plastic pin. My old Model 60 (from the 80s) used a screw.

Now we all know that pin will break at the worst time. Where do you get them. Ruger 10/22 parts are as common as grass, but Marlin parts are a bit harder to find.

Thanks.

I'd still feel better having a spare for that plastic part. As I said before that pin will break at the worst possible time.

Thanks, Brownells has them in stock for $5.64 each. Kind of pricey for a plastic pin, but oh well.

My 80's 60 has the same plastic pin and it's never had a problem

Yeah both of mine are 80's models with 18 round tubes. I find it a little odd that one is plastic and one isn't. Either way, they've both been shot 1000's and 1000's of rounds. As a kid I'd save up lawn money and buy bricks of 22. The older of the two has killed many squirrel, shotgun shell empties and pine cones. :)

Try Marlin...might even get it for free....

Yep. It worked for me with Kimber and Ruger when I called asking about part #'s and price inquiries.

Watch that recoil spring on reassembly on your 60, it is fairly easy to bind it up and bend it slightly. You'll get a ton of jams once you bend it and you'll be placing another order with brownells.

jeff56, I did the same thing a few nights ago while I was re assembling one of my 60's. I was talking to my girlfriend at the same time about college stuff and bent one. I'd appreciate it if you posted your parts source or pm me. :)
