Does anyone know where to get it? The available Hornady brass at Midwayusa, Cabelas and even the Hornady site don't list 45-70. Thanks.

This is most likely due to the shorter length of the LeverRevolution brass...

You can use the other brands with the Hornady bullets (FlexTip), you just have to trim the brass to Hornady specs.

Agreed, however, I think that Hornady brass is a little thicker and more sturdy. I have a lot of Winchester brass but I just don't think it lasts as long as Hornady. Maybe it's just my perception. I'm happy to buy some LeveRevolution ammo to shoot and then reload those cases but that seems a little like a waste.

Aren't these just nickel plated? And, if so, doesn't the plating come off after a couple reloads? I don't know that, but I believe I read it somewhere a few months ago.

If your looking for heavy duty 45/70 brass try Starline. They make their brass to withstand Ruger only loads.

I just checked the Hornady Site and they don't list 45-70 brass on their cases page.

I'm a little surprised to hear Starline is "heavy" brass. Last time I used Starline rifle brass it didn't seem heavier than most other brass to me. In some of the handgun brass it even seems thinner to me.

I agree the Nickle plated brass is heavier and will hold up well. I like almost all of the major company's Nickle rifle brass especially Federal. BUT, I haven't tried any of the Nickle brass in 45-70 yet. Right now I'm loading 450 pieces of Remington and Winchester yellow brass. Both seem to be holding up the same. Remington has Nickle available in 45-70 but I'm not sure about Winchester.

Thanks. I'll check starline. However, my understanding, albeit through third parties, was the same as ArchAngel -- that starline brass was on the cheaper side of the spectrum -- sort of a bulk ammo type manufacturer. Having said that, I'll check them out. I'll also try some of the Remington Nickel. I had heard that the nickel plating is subject to cracking after a couple of reloads but, again, I haven't tried it myself. Maybe that's just rumor.
