It's nice to get straight forward advice like I have from you gents in my other thread concerning the CZ, Sig and FN.

Now don't be mad at me guys, ok? I went down to my local dealer and looked at his selection (large) of CZ's and others. I hate to break it to ya fellas but, (Gawd, I NEVER thought I'd do or say this), ...... I, uh.... hmmm how do I say this... I um, .... I'm going to get a.... G....Gllll....Glo...... Glock 36. :what:

The guy went through everything about the CZ and then offered to show me the Glocks. Wow! Very nice and easily concealed. If I'm to believe him, the reliability and abuse this pistol will take is incredible. Plus, it is in .45 caliber, with six and one in the pipe.

I have NEVER, EVER considered a Glock up until 40 minutes ago. I always considered them to be a cheap knock off of some Hollywood shoot 'em up, blast-o-matic make believe movie.

I hope I won't be dissapointed. :scrutiny:
 
Well if you have to get a Glock :scrutiny: at least you picked one of the two stars of their lineup. The G30 and G36. :D

Actually Glocks are awesome guns and will take some serious abuse but that doesn't mean you can't clean them ever. Just watch your trigger finger and one other thing watch your trigger finger.

Thanks Chris. With all the advise you gave me in the earlier thread I really feel bad that I have chosen to go with a different gun. I hope you aren't upset and feel as if you wasted your time. Trust me, it was a wealth of information, along with everyone else's info that was given. Thanks to you all.

I just hope I'm satisfied with it when I pick it up next payday.

It increases the profile of the frame significantly, but the Pearce magazine baseplate extension adds one round and is a bit easier on larger hands. The only malfunction I had was an out of spec gunshow reload locking up the action.
 
Yea, I am really angry because you didn't buy the correct gun. I wasn't aware that my word was law or that mine was the only opinion that mattered, but if this is true this could change things for all us. :D

You wanted info, I gave you info. Hope it helped. Enjoy your Glock. God bless .45s. I am not put out in anyway . You have made my long and drawn out Monday morning go by faster. The Glock 30/36 is probably one of the best all around handguns to own if you want a CCW piece that is a fun shooter and good all round gun as well. Magazines are cheap it shoot a big bullet and is easy to clean what more could you want......besidesarealtriggerandmaybesomebetteresthetics.....but who am I to say so.:rolleyes:

Hope you enjoy the new gun. Remember when cleaning it you must pull the trigger to allow the slide to come off the frame. So that means check the chamber, not once, not twice, but thrice. The TV you save could be your own.:D

even though it can be dragged through the mud, run over by a Hummer, dropped from a helicopter, sloshed though the surf and fired underwater(don't try this at home) it will never be the prettiest girl at the ball. :D

Chris, you're going to think I'm a nutcase, but between reading things in here I decided to search some websites. I looked at Springfield and saw that they make a polymer handgun ( XD ). Should I avoid that brand? Reliable? Durable? They make a 3.5", 4", and 5" model. three different calibers - 9mm, 40, and 357. No 45's! :mad: I'd prolly go with the 3.5" in 9mm if I did buy theirs.


I haven't given up on the Glock, it's just that I don't want buyers remorse after purchasing either or, if you know what I mean. HELP!!!!

I really don't want 9mm, but I don't know enough about it. Same with the 40 and 357 calibers. Geez, this is becoming too difficult. Not for me, but for you! Mind piping in with some more wisdom?

P.S. --- I'm a good student / listener!
 
Loaded welcome to the Dark side HAHAHA, seriously, your in the same predicament that my wife and I are in.
Glock or SIG PRO 9mm or .40 for us.
We are leaning toward the Glock 23 .40S&W, it fits her better.
What it's boiling down to is what ever you purchase, make it quality equipment that has a great reputation, and feels good in your hands.
Then practice, practice practice.
Trust your instincts.

You have a PM. SIG makes plastic guns too?:D I mean they aren't like real SIGs but you know.

Just kidding SIGPRO people. In reality the SIGPRO triggers I have used are all better than the classic triggers. After shooting a PRO I am a believer.

Hey man, congrats! If it feels best for you, more power to ya'! I bought a G36 last week and am very pleased with it (700rds so far so good). It's accurate and comfortable in hand and on hip.
 
Hey, a new gun is a new gun! Congrats ;) The one thing I've seen w/ the rental guns at the range, the Glocks will stand up to alotmore abuse than most other guns.

Quartus - Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Springfield. If I go with the XD hopefully I won't need any customer service.

I'm still up in the air about which to buy. I'd like to hear from some of you guy who have experience with the G36 and the XD in 9mm. Hint - cslinger, feel free to also jump in with your thoughts too!

This is it fellas. It's either going to be the Glock 36 or the 4" XD 9mm in black. I don't care for the bi-tone.

Wondernine - LOL. True, but that was before I discovered Springfield's XD's. I don't want to experience buyers remorse. Once I eliminate one of the last two that are in the running I will have my winner. Personally I would like to stay with the .45 round. But, if the XD can prove to be the better of the two I will learn to live with the 9mm.

Dear God In Heaven I Cannot Believe I Am Going To Say This.......

Go with the Glock. It is a proven design in a major caliber with huge aftermarket support and a great finish. You pay a little more up front but I really think the Glock is the better choice of the two.

There I said it. I recommended a Glock. Is everybody happy. It has come to this. :D

2nd one down left side. What is it. Isn't that the Springer FBI gun? I thought that was a TRP or more aptly the real TRP.

Go with the Glock. It's my standard carry pistol, mostly in .40 S&W, but with an occasional 357 SIG thrown in for variety. I train mostly with the 9mm. Glocks. I used to have .45 ACP Glocks, and the 36 is easily the most "carry-friendly" of them, due to its thinner slide and MUCH thinner grip (single-stack mag). I've recently switched to the SIG P220 for .45 ACP, just because of personal preference in that caliber: but that doesn't mean I've stopped carrying my Glocks!

As a final point - Glock didn't get over 60% of the U.S. law enforcement handgun market by selling a bad product... Food for thought!
