SA Professional. FBI like's em!

I watched an FBI Hostage Rescue guy shoot IDPA on my squad a few months ago. That guys was :what: good with his high end Springer. He was actually a trainer for the HR units and shot 2-3k rounds a week.

yes it is. the coupon also has other stuff like holsters, range bags, cleaning kits, etc. all for a discounted price.
no prob, glad to be of help.
sweet, i have often heard about them with the m1a' and such but had no experience with that. that is a heck of a deal.

I went Kimber Warrior (After looking at higher priced models... I chose to spend the extra $ on ammo)

I am glad I did.

Edited to add: I looked at the Taurus... my buddy pointed out if the crooked site got by their quality control what else did?

One of out Corpsmen had the Springfield (Operator I think) he sold it and got a Kimber...
I didn't go Springfield for 2 reasons:
-The one I would of wanted has SHARP checkering that would hurt to shoot alot.
-I don't have guns with locks. Even though I could get it cheaper by the time I switched out the mainspring housing I would of lost the cost savings.

nomad, i remember you saying you had great luck with your warrior right out of the box. 803 rds without a faliure right! sounds good to me!:D

What about over 2K rounds without a failure? That's where my DW PM7 stands right now. Had the chance to buy a Kimber (something about it didn't quite feel right to me, can't explain it), ordered the DW instead. The guy that bought the Kimber I considered has already sent his in for repairs at a much lower round count than what's been through mine.

That's dry, unlubed, uncleaned, right out the box. Rounds 451-804 were practically rapid fire.
yeah i left that part out figured people would get the right out of the box aspect but i will clarify next time.

The Springfield Armory Loaded Black Stainless I bought last year had two issues. The extractor claw broke off within the first few hundred rounds. SA was very good about paying shipping both ways and had quick turn around. The trigger was quite stiff, at least the 5-6 pounds advertised. I have used it as a project gun and it is great now.

The S&W1911PD Commander I bought was great out of the box. One issue was it did throw brass into my forehead. A little filing of the ejector solved that. For me on equal priced pistols I'd buy a S&W. The commander with scandium frame is not as nice as a full sized all steel gun for extended range sessions.

I have purchased an Ed Brown and Les Baer as well. They are great, but you do not need to spend that kind of money for a wonderful, accurate and reliable 1911. When I bought the SA I was looking for my 1911. I have a variety of pistols and needed to add the 1911 to the mix. What I discovered was that I was buying my first 1911. I now realize that each one I buy is just my most recent, and there is probably another or next one out there waiting for me.

my thoughts exactly. thanks for sharing your experience with the different 1911's i sure do appreciate first hand experience. thanks!

eah i left that part out figured people would get the right out of the box aspect but i will clarify next time.

I could've shot mine out of the box, I guess....but I would rather clean the cosmoline off of it first. ;)

I voted for the SA operator but I started with a SA Mil-Spec a couple years ago. It has visited my local gunsmith for upgrades over the last few months. I am very happy to say it is my #1 Pistol now and will be for the forseeable future.

Why not the true orginal fighting 1911 .A Colt Rest are copies ,worked for Uncle Sam and about a million + GI's thru how many wars. Buy the real thing

COLT - just work out your wants
and its needs and you'll have a classic
and classy friend for life.

;)

I have used the ACTUAL U.S.M.C. CQB .45 that was built by our armorers for us. They are a no frills combat handgun that has just one prupose, to kill. I fired literally hundreds of thousands of rds thru my wpn. and NEVER, I say again, NEVER had a problem with the weapon. (There were ammo issues). Since I became disabled (they say) and had to leave the MARINES the 1911 that I have found that is even close is the Springfield. I own 3 at this time. The Kimber shoots great and handles well but I would not bet my life on it and I am not rich enough to spend the amount of money on a Wilson or a Baer. (wouldn't even if I could) There is no magic bullet or magic gun, whatever you buy, these are the 3 most important things to remember about combat pistol shooting, SHOT PLACEMENT, SHOT PLACEMENT, SHOT PLACEMENT.

Woodrow: I'll put my Kimber up against any of the MUSOC's I've shot.
(Like the Springfields though... I've got an older Loaded that is STELLER!)

more responses. you guys really came out to play for this one. i appreciate it. i am kinda disapointed there are alomst 65 people that voted other but they are not letting me kno what other is. oh well. thanks to all that has replied.

I just bought a new production Colt Series 70 today. I was tempted by the Kimber Warrior sitting next to it and a TRP Operator a few feet down - but my desire for the Pony won out.

I just got it home, started checking fit and finish a little closer - she's tight as can be, no real rattles, no movement side-to-side that I notice, the S70 trigger is smooth and light.

I think I'll wind up with a TRP or Warrior down the line for a house gun (built-in rail and all) - but I couldn't be happier with my Colt. ($815 tax and all - a series 80 would have been ~$180 less)

I would get a Colt. I've had 6 Colt 1911's in my life and still have 3. I've never had a reliability problem with any of them. I foolishly sold or traded the three I no longer have to get something new and different. I wish I had those Colts back.

Of the three 1911s I own I am probably most partial, at the moment, to my S&W 1911PD. Excellent pistol. That said, I keep a Colt Sistema, tweaked up by King's Gunworks, at the ready and with a CTC laser installed; I trust it as a primary house gun.

Faced with a similar decison recently I bought a Les Baer and plan to get an
Ed Brown in the near future...the Les Baer is the Premier Custom Carry and the Ed Brown will be the Kobra Carry...either are fine guns...and can shoot better than by 61 year old eyes can see...have diabetic retinopathy...
