Well guys thanks for all the great into! A lever action is still on my list to own, however I ended up ordering a Savage FV-SR over the weekend. It comes with a threaded barrel. I had an FV a few years ago and regret selling it, so this will fill that void.

That said if anyone is looking for a 22 lever, my local shop has a BL-22 and a 94/22 on the shelf right now

Zamak is NOT pot metal, but who cares??? The three Henrys i have will out last me and who ever gets mine after me, and that one heck of a deal as they just don't cost all that much to start with.

I have 3 Henry levers, and all 3 have worked perfectly from new, and at least one get's taken out nearly "every" day. In fact, i just came back with one in my hands about 30 minutes ago...

Mine are well built and accurate...

Some where along the line this turned into a "Henry; Pro or Con” thread. So, I might as well weigh in...;)

Although the Henry 22 usually has decent wood and works better than the old Ithaca 72, which it is a direct copy of, it in no way compares to either the Marlin 39 or Winchester 94/22 in quality or materials.

On a side note, despite all of their flag waving, Henry Repeating Arms is an unethical company, in my opinion, in regard to their advertising. According to their website, "Today, the Henry Repeating Arms Company, a descendant of the venerable gunmaker, makes its home in Bayonne, New Jersey." This is pure bunk..... except for the New Jersey part...LOL On Henry's web page under "About Us" they go on and on about Benjamin Tyler Henry and Henry rifles in the Civil war and the American West implying that there is some connection between past and present which there most certainly is not.... The New Haven Repeating Arms Company, which made the original Henry rifles, was renamed the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1866.

Those who prefer blued or case colored steel.

That's true, but from all the Henrys that Henry is selling, i'd say there's a LOT of guys just like me. We just want a accurate reliable lever 22 that works every time and will last our lifetime. AND not have to pay a fortune to get it.

Henry has that covered that in spades...

Bushpilot, that's my biggest beef i have with Henrys and my biggest reason i won't get a Henry, that and it seems the price is going up from what i remember them being(a friend got one for 200 ish) for that price i could see it but most of my 39a's have been in the neighborhood of 200, pasted on a couple in the 175otd price along to a friend.

Used? Marlin. New? Henry. I never cared for the Winchester or the Browning-- just personal preference, no offense intended.

For the money, Henry. The Marlin is said to be a better gun, probably is, but how much do you really want to spend on a 22?
