I can't speak to the nitride vs phosphate, but a friend has one of those 10.5 inch uppers for his .300 and absolutely adores it. He went with the 10.5 for full powder burn. Surprisingly quiet, even without a can.

We went out to shoot it when he first got it. It's not inaccurate. I don't remember the exact group size, but it was certainly good for whatever someone is using a .300 for. I believe he's had zero issues with it.

Buy with confidence, PSA makes good stuff.

If you're going to shoot subs, then shorter is better. There's no benefit to a longer barrel unless you're shooting supers.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. H110 is the most popular powder for the cartridge. The powder is going to be "burned" in about an inch of barrel. For maximum velocity with supers, you'd want 18-20". For subs, any length works.

I went with 8.5” because, with the can, it’s about the same length as a regular 16” AR. Went 10.5 on the .223 because it looses a lot more per inch of barrel down there (using larger charges of rifle vs smaller charges of pistol powders) and the can is shorter.

I meant "fuller" powder burn. He got it to shoot subs, so it's sort of moot.

what do you want to do with this 300?

This is a range toy, but it will give me understanding for more important uses. The first 300 upper I bought was Freedom Arms. Rock solid. I had to learn about the Seekins adjustable gas block (Seekins - great product, and wonderful customer service!). Well put together.

I've got the 10.5 inch Nitrided PSA upper and have been very happy with it. I haven't shot it a lot yet because I'm still waiting on my suppressor but I have no complaints.

Given I prefer Supers. I went with a 10.5" barrel. I also wanted more room on the handguard.. the 8.5" version wasn't enough to comfortably mount a light.

Given I prefer subs I went with a 10.5”, to lower report pressure. I also wanted more room on my handguard, so I enclosed all of it in a 12” handguard.
I thought I wouldn’t get a suppressor and cut a 15” down flush to a KVP. A $108 mistake. Now I need a longer one.:(
