I am looking at getting a 308 ar platform rifle and I am new to this, but was wondering if I can interchange uppers on the rifle...for example can I use a DPMS 308 lower and put on a 338 federal upper on it? will they interchange with a Rock River 308 lower? I want a reliable, light 308 AR platform that can have the option to change uppers in different calibers.

Will DPMS uppers fit on a rock river 308 lower?

thanks,

John

Armalite, DPMS and RRA are not interchangeable. DPMS only fits DPMS and etc.

From the OP
I want a reliable, light 308 AR platform that can have the option to change uppers in different calibers.
The DPMS is the only one that has multiple caliber support such as 243, 260, 308, and 338. The Rock for me is the best 308 rifle for the price again that is my opinion. However I wish I bought the DPMS for the other calibers. Also RRA does not answer their email I want to buy another upper for my LAR8 but they won't answer their phone or email me back. You also don't come across LAR8 uppers like you do those for DPMS.

"Light" is definitely not an aspect of any of your stated preferences. If you intend to pack this around on your back all day I hope you have good stamina. What is your intended usage? If it's hunting a bolt action would serve you better.
As others have stated only the DPMS offers interchangeability where other caliber uppers are concerned but they do make a nice rifle.

i wouldn't go that far. i mean, for $300, just about any gunsmith in the country can rebarrel any of those models in any of the calibers listed and more. and you can get a better barrel than what ships standard with dpms. (i.e. pay a bit more for a krieger or something)
