Which .40 for carry?

Have two in .40 one is a Glock 27 that I wear when riding my Harley as I have a great leather retention holster for it.
The second is a RIA 1911

I really liked carrying a usp 40 compact but still haven't figured out the lem trigger. A shame as both that and my p2000 triggers are both very smooth. Replaced it with a wonder 9.

I have the usp, sig 320, 226,229, Smith 410, Beretta 96, Glock 22,27. Probably some others i forget. All are fine guns

The only one I carry is a Glock 27. No interest conceal carrying the others. I do on occasion carry one owb when I'm out walking.

For owb my first choice would be Glock 22. Next would be p320. The others are plenty heavy for the capacity. I don't care as much for da/sa as I did in the past either. And the others like dak or lem don't excite me any either

Kel-Tec P-40 .40S&W. It is the scary tatted up biker aunt of the shiny new micro-9mm crowd. Hammer-fired, double-stack, but 15oz or so unloaded. 9+1 capacity of .40S&W goodness and you best slap it around, show it who's wearing the pants, and give it a firm hand or you'll be HER (female dog). Takes 3rd Gen S&W .40S&W double stack mags if you want to extend the time between mag changes to 12 or so rounds.

Mine has the slide chrome-plated in case things get sweaty, the trigger pull has been smoothed out, and has nice aftermarket iron sights that make it a shooter.

With that bit of extra recoil from the .40 I’d prefer a little more meat in my hand, so the shield and other thin guns aren’t my jam for that.
Fully agree. HK USP 40c, Sig P229 or HK2000 would be my choices. No 40SW Micros for me.

Many thanks to all who posted. It's much appreciated.

I decided to pass on the Shield in .40. Did a bit of swapping around with some Sigs parts and now I have a .40 Sig P250 in subcompact and I scrounged enough to "create" a P320 subcompact in 40 as well. Added to the 226 and a 2340 (too much of a bargain to pass up) I think I'm well-fixed in that caliber. (And there's a Smith 4006TSW CHP at my bedside in memory of my best pal who was a CHiP. He's still keeping me safe even if he's gone.)

And I was thinking of a nice small striker-fired .45...but have decided that with 3 small .40s I really can't justify another carry gun, my Chiefs Special and 4513 are plenty good for carry.

Damn, but don't ya just hate it when common sense and logic precludes buying yet another gun. Unless I want one at my hip, one in my socks, one in a pocket, and another in the small of my back (hmmmm....maybe a shoulder holster?) how many guns can I carry. (And how many should I rotate? There's some wisdom that says get one and get real, real good with it.)

I'm thinking of another .40 to add to my carry rotation. I have a SW99 compact in .40 but would like another so....
I'm thinking of a S&W Shield M1 in 40 that a fella is asking $300 including a CrimsonTrace laser and decent holster (have the Shield EZs in 9 and 380) but am wondering what other folks might recommend, carry, or think would be a good carry gun. (Note: this is a local sale so just a modest FFL fee and no 10% WA state tax or $30 in shiping from dealer/gunbroker.)
I'm not big on Glock. I've tried 'em about six times and we just don't get along.
I like hammer fired and should never have sold my 4013 and would like to find an affordable to me CS40...but I've had good luck with previous Shields so I'm considering the offer.
Comments? Suggestions?

Beretta PX4 . Its hammer fired and It was made around the .40SW cartridge . I have one and it's great. Very reliable .

Mine is a Steyr M40. Discontinued now, the M2, which replaced it, and which looks like an excellent gun, is only offered in 9mm. But I love my M40; it's intelligently designed, ergonomic, and surprisingly concealable considering the caliber and magazine capacity.

I carry a P229 in .40 on occasion. It’s an oldie without a rail that was my primary carry, but I moved to a smaller 9 with an optic. The P229 has tritium sights that lost their glow a long time ago, but I added a laser guide rod and have been carrying it again in a Summer Special holster.

I have several 40 cal pistols. My M&P 40 compact is the only one that ever gets carried it is one of my woods guns in the summer on the trails..

I have one like thst and carry it from time to time. It is a nice pistol andchas worked flawlessly. $300 sounds like a real good price with the extras.

Most of the time for me, if I'm carrying .40 (as I like to rotate my carry guns), I use a G27 Gen5.
