AK103K,

LOL THR education nothing like it. You must have missed my picture above, I have both the loading tool and the demooning tool.

As to the AR, this cartridge is much better than the ACP for loading heavy hunting bullets. My load for carrying around here is a 255 gr. cast SWC running over 900 fps. I would never trust this bullet/load to not slip a taper crimped ACP case. Plus loading in AR brass and using a roll crimp eliminates the step of taper crimping[/QUOTE]

Hi 35Whelen to this load of 255 gr SWC .45 at 900 + fps ,loaded in .45 AR brass which powder and poder weight do you use?
Is that load safe to use in the SW 1917?
I too have a brazilian 1917 in very good shape and do not wish to pound it much.
I also understand that for a revolver loading it´s better to use a roll crimp. I will use a Lee loader and really don´t know if the crimp avaiable with this kit is roll or taper.Do you know?

Thanks regards, Nicioli

Guess I'm old fashioned. Don't like semi- auto cartridges' in revolvers. Too many fine semi-auto's out there. I don't compete , so super fast reloading is not a concern for me. Plus moon clips are just another part to lose or damage.
Must be REALLY old fashioned. They have been making revolvers in 45acp for over 100 years!

Ruger makes a Redhawk that shoots both 45ACP and 45Colt. Added bonus, you can shoot 460 Rowland’s as well.

I have both a Ruger convertible and a 3 1/2 inch 625. The Ruger is more accurate with the 45ACP cylinder than the 45 Colt cylinder. The 625 is more accurate than the Ruger (with 45acp cylinder), but I got the 625 with a red dot sight installed and never took it off. The better accuracy of the 625 may just be rue to my aging eyes doing better with the red dot.

I often carry my 625, so I changed the rear sight to a fixed sight.
It shoots to poa with all but the most extreme soft or +P loads. Anything in between goes right where I want it.
It shot that well with the factory sight, but that thin blade sometimes kinda dug into my ample middle, and I worried some about banging it into things. What a great shootin' gun!!
