Which 9mm fmj would you choose?

Which ever one I could control the best out of my SD weapon.

The military uses 124 grain FMJ at around 1150-1200fps. I'm no expert but think they may have put a little thought into the best FMJ load since that is what they use.
I wouldn't be so sure. They may have been trying to find the middle ground between recoil and penetration, and settled on the "middle of the road" loading. Other factors such as cost effectiveness could be at play, too.

I agree, Jason.

The standard NATO load prior to the 9mm 124 FMJ @ ~1249 fps was the 9mm 115 FMJ @ ~1300 fps and I suspect that the extra eight grains of bullet weight would do little to increase the terminal effectiveness of a 9mm FMJ round. I have to believe that going to the 124 FMJ was probably a result of some sort of policy of standardization within NATO's organizational structure. Who knows?

My answer is that it also depends on the gun. If your barrel is less then 4 inches, you really want to stick with 115gr to maximize muzzle velocity.
