I found 2 AK variants locally a Arsenal 107f and a Romanian "G". The only negative thing I have herd about the 2 rifles is that the Arsenals some had canted sights.
ak's have flooded the market right now, as in just this right now, and there are too many in the pipeline, and too many dealers are stocked up. I would wait, another 6 months, if you can; I think we are about to see a precipitous drop in price, in all ak variants.
Arsenal makes a great AK, in the last few years some would argue their being the same quality of the earlier years. The issue with the 107f's was the barrels, iirc, they were not concentric. They fixed the problem and started to include a test target with each rifle showing it could group. The way to tell if your model is one of the "janky" ones is whether it has a muzzle brake (good), or the flash hider (50/50 chance). Now on the other hand that G kit is going to to be made of decent parts and would definitely fill the ak niche
Make sure the Arsenal has a test target. If that's in the box you're good to go.
You'll pay more for the Arsenal but they don't need any work right out of the box. People complain about the paint being carp, but the paint stands up to CLP or Ballistol just fine. Brake cleaner and acetone will damage the paint.
You do want the SLR107FR or SRL107R. The 'R' stands for 'rail' which a commie standard optics rail. Many reasonably priced scopes attache to that rail and there aren't a lot of other good ways to ever hang an optic off an AK without it. It adds maybe an ounce to the total weight. BSW
My 107FR stripped. I did a Trijicon Reflex on a BP-02 mount that's in the picture.
