Looking about I find Alfa - Adolf Frank export company before 1904 run to at least 1940 by Georg Frank.

The bolt action Alfa I saw photos of was marked "Kal 22 long rifle". However, I have seen one auction site listing an Alfa in .22 BB cap caliber.

The collector's references for Adolf Frank (Alfa) concentrate on his four barrel pocket pistol, percussion rifles and shotguns, and double barrel shotguns. (.22 single shot bolt action rifles of the boy's rifle or farmer's companion get ignored.)

What I have seen shows markings on Alfa .22 rifles can be confusing: under German law, gunsmiths selling used guns w/o a proofmark had to have them prooftested, so extant Alfa rifles will often have proof marks dated long after date of original manufacture.

22 Kal usually indicates .22 Short on German rimfires.
22 Lang is .22 Long rimfire
22 Lang ver Bushe is .22 long rifle
5.6mm is metric designation, same words

Try a LR in it. According to Onmilo, it could be short only. If so, a LR won't chamber. If it takes LR, I would only shoot standard velocity ammo in a rifle of that age.
