Which AR would it be?

Sporter & LEO markings are pretty much gone now, the newest guns say "M4 Carbine". I just got an LE6920MP-R that says M4 Carbine and has an SP serial #. Speaking of which, look up that specific model, it's a limited edition deal by Talo with lots of goodies for about $1250. I had a Bushy several years ago and fit & finish were way behind this new Colt!

My DPMS with M16A1 sights and lightweight barrel has run trouble free since 2005.

A lot of gun for not a lot of money. :)

My LGS, which is geared primarily to LE sales, informed me that Colt has now decided to continue with the LE/Mil markings.

Mr. Rat, you said that---

"That "LE Only" rollmark might be cool, but it could also be a problem when there is another assault weapon ban."

Why is this?

...Unless you have a grenade launcher to attach to your carbine, no reason to use an M4 barrel, unless you're into more recoil, more wear on the weapon, and less handguard. They make "Mid Length" 16" rifles now that solve these issues with 100% reliability, less recoil, less wear on the weapon, and more room for handguards...

Carbine length gas systems work and contrary to popular belief, does not generate more recoil than a mid-length gas system. The middy may feel softer, but the amount of recoil energy generated by the cartridge remains the same.

I shot my 16" middy next to a Colt M4. Recoil impulse felt about the same. Biggest difference in felt recoil came when I changed buffers. There wasn't much difference between the carbine buffer and the H buffer but the H2 softened it quite a bit. Changing the buffer in a carbine system will soften the felt recoil as well

I was in my local Wallyworld yesterday, the COLT 6920 was priced at just over $1000. and was at Wal-Mart. No service after the sale, but good price.

After seeing the Daniel Defense m4 torture test video, I am most likely buying my first ar from them. Except I'll probably go with a mid length gas system over the carbine length. So I would rather get the m4v3 model. (But the original DDm4's hand guard just looks awesome!!)

@precisionrifle, good choice on the DPMS. Look at the M4V7, it has a lighter modular handguard, which will make a handier weapon overall. I've shot the V7, its a very nice package.

Go with a Rock River Arms. SS barrel, 1/8 twist, Wylde chamber, 18 to 20 barrel, and free float handguard. You will not be sorry.

I like BCM's, but the Colt's are the standard by which all others are judged. Buy once, cry once.

Of your options, the Colt. By far. If you're looking for other opinions, buy the Colt online and save some money, or wander over to GandRtactical.com and have them put together a BCM for you, Grant seems to be one of the absolute most stand up guys in the firearms business.
