Which brand of primer do you use?

For the most part I use CCI but also have several others. Recently bought a few thousand S&B to give a try. So overall different flavors of CCI with Federal, Winchester and Remington also laying around.

I have a few thousand CCI.

But last trip to Cabelas I saw Sellier and Bellot 4,4 SR Boxer. The box indicates use for small pistol, rifle, and revolver.

Can anyone comment?

I just bought about 30k of those S&Bs. So far they are working great in pistols and ARs. Killer price Cabelas had, $17.99 per 1K? Had to stock up at that price. Other than those, my stash is mostly CCI, no complaints on those either.

Yes I do believe that's how much they were. One of those, at that price it will work in something so toss it in the cart moments.

Given the present component shortage, I buy whatever is available and cheapest. About the only brand I have not tried is Wolf because I have never seen them in my neck of the woods.

Winchester WLR & WLRM primers are undersize.

The unplated (brass color) WLR & WLRM primers I have are UNDERSIZE and fit loose in good primer pockets!

There are specific blueprints on primers with their required dimensions including DIAMETER.

They forgot that the plating they left off added to the diameter of the unplated primers.

This is a fundamental manufacturing mistake.

After 48 years of reloading I will rate all I have used have been great.
They are in no particular order:
CCI
REMINGTON
FEDERAL
WW
I have only 2 revolvers that need easy to ignite Federals. A S&W 19, and lately my Redhawks .44, but only when fired double action, go figure.

I use federal for my pistols, 90 % of my reloading. Love the primer, but hate the packaging., takes up too way too much space.
Other 10%, always cci

CCI for sm. pistol, large pistol, small rifle, and large rifle. CCI for magnum loads too.

However, out of necessity I have used about 5k Winchester SPP and have another 5k in reserve. They have performed well. CCI and Winchester have not let me down.

Rifle and Pistol: CCI, Tula, Winchester
Shotgun: Winchester, Rio, Remington (but I won't by any more Rem when I use them up because of price).
I kinda got caught short in the last shortage. I've always liked CCI but learned real quick to buy what I could find. To be honest I like the Tula/Wolf primers in rifle and pistol as well as I do CCI. I won't hesitate to keep my on hand supply up as needed again.

I'm having the same problem with Winchesters in pistol.

I've used just about every brand of primer made and have never had a single misfire with any of them. Maybe I'm just lucky. I recently bought 20,000 Wolf small rifle primers for my AR's on sale for $16.00/K. So far I've used about 1,500 of them without a single misfire.

The only primer I try not to use is Federal. I had a Federal LP primer detonate while reloading .45 ACP about two years ago. It didn't cause any damage and I was not hurt, but It scared the crap out of me. Since then I try not to use them but If I do I'm extra careful.

I've used mostly CCI in everything. I also use Federal Match in my long range ammo. I have had issues with fit with some other brands.

As others have said, Federals in my revolvers, CCIs in my auto-loaders.

I use Winchester for .223 Remington loads.

I used CCI primers almost exclusively for more than 30 years, until I started shooting revolvers in competition. I found that the CCI's weren't reliable when shooting a tuned revolver in double action so I switched to Federals for those guns. I still use CCI's in my 44's because those guns are not tuned and are normally fired single action. YMMV

Federal in revolver loads as most will be shot in light spring DA match guns.
Otherwise, Federal, Winchester, or CCI are equivalent for my pistol ammo.
I use CCI BR or Federal GMM in rifle calibers because I don't load blasting ammo, it is nearly all for careful target shooting.
Don't see many Remington primers hereabouts for some reason and I don't see the point of searching for them.

The Russian Wolf small pistols I bought during Panic I were 99.9% in 9mm. One misfire in a thousand is too many.

I have not tried S&B or Magtech.

A friend looked at me once and said"Zack, do you know what you call something that is 99.9% reliable?" "Unreliable"

I use mostly CCI primers when available. I have used most primers out there over the past 8 years and to tell the truth, I really can't tell the difference. CCI, Winchester, Remington, Federal, Magtech, S&B, Tula, Wolf, Fiocchi and probably a few, others all have gone bang every time. I still prefer CCI with Winchester next. Right now 75%of my primers are CCI with most of the rest being Winchester in the form of LPP. I have 2 or 3 boxes of Federal primers stashed away in case I buy a handgun with a very light strike.

I guess use what you like unless you can't find them, then use what you can lol.

Used almost all of them. Order of preference: CCI, Win., Fed., Rem. I do not like Magtech, had some large pistol Magtechs that didn't like to go off in striker-fired pistols.
Mine are about like yours, ArchAngelCD; 75% CCI, rest Win. LP.
