I have two back up iron sights that i can put on my ar-15 i am holding both right now. But i was wondering what you guys think about them and which you would put on and why. I have a G G & G, MAD flip up rear sight and i have an A.R.M.S #40 flip up rear sight. The Mad we use in the military and they have worked great for me on a deployment and many field problems. the one mounted on my m16 is what i have used to qualify with every time we have weapons qual, and i like that it is so low profile. But I have no experience with the A.R.M.S. tell me what you think! thanks

I have Mangonel flip-up front and rear sights for mine...I have a flat top with a scope and if it breaks or I want to shoot iron sights all I have to do is to remove the scope...

Out of your 2 i would use the MAD sight, you seem familiar with it already. I don't like some of the ARMs models because they don't lock when deployed up.

I run an EOtech with Dominator mount on mine.

444,

Thanks for that link that had alot of great info, i appreciate that, I think i will stick with the MAD sight I am farmilliar with it and i love how low it mounts, and there is no way that it could do like the troy and rotate halfway throug a session, i also love the whole locking system. Thanks again and i am glad that i could learn from your ersonal experience.

I run a older MAD rear sight and a YHM flipup front sight on my AR as a BUIS to my Eotech. I try to shoot with it once in a while to make sure I keep my shooting skills with iron sights up to date but for the most part I hardly ever use it.

What's the big deal about Troy Ind. BUIS? They're rock solid. Not just built, but over-built. Even my Infantry brother Possum would have a tough time breaking them. And for Army 11/USMC 03 series, they're familiar - 2 aperatures, just like A2/A4 sights. Windage adjustment is familiar for us old timers who remember the A1. You'll pay a little more for Troy's and they're a little harder to find, but they're worth it. FWIW, I replaced the issue BUIS with Troy's about a quarter of the way through my tour. It now resides on my POF upper.

Myself, I prefer the Matech BUIS. They are what we have on my issue M-4 and of course I like to keep my personal M-4gery as close as possible to what I carry on the job. Not only are they adjustable for windage as most BUIS go, they are also adjustable for ranges between 200-600 meters which is something not a lot of other sights can do. The only down side is they are hard to find. Here's a link to one I seen on ebay for those that have never seen them before.
