In their VS1 varmint rifle.....3k price tag!
17 Remington, 204 Ruger, .223, 22-250,.243, 6mm, .257 Roberts, 6.5 X 47 Lapua, 6.5 x .284, .308

So, a friend of mine was looking at their inventory and, honestly, it looks like a game of which cartridge doesnt belong...Custom rifles set up for medium to long range precision shooting and available in a Variety of modern and/or awesome cartridges... I have a 257 rbts and love the cartridge, but it seems a little out of place in this crowd...

Heck, why not! Of all the calibers listed, it is perhaps the most verstile one there, and one of the least likely to burn up a barrel.

Evidently, it's a slightly long short action (true short actions won't chamber a mauser-based case like the 6mm Rem and .257 Roberts), but not long enought to chamber the king of varmint cartridges, the .25-06 Remington. So the .257 Bob was a logical decision for slipping a quarterbore into the line-up.

Like I said, I have a bob and love it... I guess I would have liked to have been in the conference room when it was suggested...

"alright boys, we have 9 cartridges that I am sure the benchrest community will approve of, but I want to make it an even 10"
guy in the back raises his hand
"Now stay with me on this guys, THE 257 ROBERTS!!!!"

It just struck me as funny.

It seems at home in that group to me. It's a wonderful intermediate deer round imo. Maybe the 6.5x55 swede would be sexier though.

I that it was that .17 ......................... 257 is far better than many rounds on there. 6.5x55 bahah get a real 6.5 the .256 newton. =p
