Which CCW for hot FL weather?

Another vote for Kahr. The P/CW guns are thin for iwb yet have a long enough grip to actually hold and draw. They are Stainless which makes them sweat resistant and they can be had with night sights.

Slimmer gun
Better holster
Better belt

Look into CrossBreed for holsters (or KHolster, Comp-Tac, and Tucker gunleather)
BeltMan for a belt
Taurus and KelTec make budget slim 9mm guns
Walther makes the PPS, Kahr has a bunch

Search the forum, you're hardly the first person looking for an easy concealment gun

For hot weather carry its a kahr pm9 in a front pocket holster for me. I like this gun so much it may become my all year around gun. If I want more firepower I go with a glock 19 IWB (which is pretty uncomfortable because its double stack, stick with single stack if going IWB) or I carry it OWB with a button up shirt over it, which is much better.

The K-pf9 is not a pocket gun, trust me. It makes a great IWB gun, so does the taurus pt709. The only true 9mm pocket guns in my book are the kahr pm9 and rohrbaugh r9. The rohrbaugh will cost an arm and a leg and has a heel magazine release (lame) so I say go with the kahr.

I carry a Kahr CW-9 IWB pretty much year round and it's very comfortable. I often wear those thin polo style shirts, or a short sleeve button down, or even just a tshirt and I don't mean that my usual size is a medium or large, depending on the cut, and I wear a XXL to conceal my gun. My wife has said on numerous occasions, "wow, you really can't tell you have a gun", and she knows where I wear it!!!

It conceals great, I'm accurate with it, reliable, comfortable, and didn't break the bank either.

I would definitely check these out and try to shoot one before you buy something. I will however say that I am a big fan of the Walther PPS as well, but the are at least $200 more than the CW-9.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Oh yeah, the Don Hume 715 is also a nice inexpensive IWB holster for it too.

I agree with the others that say choose the gun, then find the holster that works. I carry an officer 1911 with as litte as a tank top and shorts on, the right holster makes all the difference.

I have a PF-9, a seacamp, and a 26, and the 26 hides just as well "without the grip extenstion" than the pf-9, unless you are using a clip draw. My titanium revolver is the lighterst at 11.5, and carries better than all of them, but lacks the rounds, it is great for walking in and out on short notice, "like throwing out the garbage", but I find the 26 with the new comp-tac holster works just as good as anyting else. The seacamp "again" is just underpowered. The kel-tec I really don't like the ergonomics on, it just feels like it's cutting into your hand, maybe some grip tape from talon. I went and put a laser on it, which more or less killed the size thing. Now if I carry it, it goes in my pocket.

I never had a problem in concealing my G19 (when I owned one) during the hotter months here in Virginia. I just sweated a lot cause I was always wearing a t shirt and a button-down shirt to conceal it.

I carry a j-frame 642 nowadays. Wonderful to conceal.... a real pain to shoot. But it fits well in a Uncle mikes pocket holster. And .38+p is respectable.

Dad just bought a Kahr CW9. Would seem to be a better alternative to a G19 for summer carry, if you want a nine. I shoot the Cw9 better than the G19, and its much slimmer and a good deal smaller.

I will admit that carrying a 5 shot revolver 11 - 15 oz can become habit forming, just because they conceal well and you don't have to concern yourself as much with holsters and safe ways to carrry them, stick it in your pocket or your waist and go.

Rugers shoot 8? I thought they only do 6+1.
You can buy +1 extension kits. I recommend using over strength wolf mag springs with the extension kit, to maintain sufficient spring pressure.

That's what i do with my LCP. But it's flatter and smaller than any revolver (save the "mini" types).

Orlando resident here. I pocket carry a NAA Guardian (.32) on work days for deep concealment, but on my off days I carry either an HK P2000SK (9mm) or Sig P232 (.380) IWB at 3:30 position.

If you carry IWB, find a good holster that has a sweat guard. I used to wear an undershirt all the time when I used Uncle Mike's cheapo holsters, but a sweatguard holster renders an undershirt unnecessary.

How do you normally dress? If you favor large untucked t-shirts/polo shirts, or larger untucked button down shirts like guayabera shirts or hawaiian shirts, you should have absolutely no problems concealing a Glock 19. If you're unwilling to make these types of shirts the bulk of your wardrobe, then feel free to find something smaller like a J frame revolver.

I'll say that IMHO a GLOCK 19 is a fine pistol for CCW, even in Florida. The areas to consider would be your body size, preferred clothing size, which part of Florida you're in, clothing color, and activity level.

I would not recommend the 19 if you have a smaller body frame, as it'll be more obvious you have a chunk of metal hanging by your side. With regular fitting clothes you should be fine, but the bright Florida sun might shine through light colored clothes to expose a pitch-black gun. If you live in central Florida and above, you should be alright, but if you live in south Florida where it's more humid and you move around a lot, you might regret having carried.

I have my new 26 set up nice now, spare new G19 mag, Talon tape comp-tac infidel holster, now it's just a matter of if I want Hi-viz or trij's like my others have. Just the front site. But it's good to go. I do have my smaller guns, seacamp, keltec, ultralight titanium, but this may trump them all. If so I will start unloading "selling" the others and get something completely impractical. Two glocks have most situations covered, I am downsizing. If I don't use it, it's going. I have my 45 and 9 that are staying. the other 4 are subject to change. At a certain age you have to be practical, gone are the days where I had a couple dozen handguns, if I don't shoot them they have to go. My pf9- "unfired" with laser may be next to go.

I carry a Kahr pm9 in a pocket holster. I've got a bunch of concealable guns, but this is the one I like the best in hot weather. It's fun to shoot at the range too.

The 380 is a decent round for Florida because there are no heavy coats for the bullet to travel through if you ever needed it. I carry a P238 most days and a 1911 when "dressing up". I had a Keltec PF9 that was a great gun and carried even better especially in a SmartCarry. If I get another small deep concealment gun it'll be the Kahr PM9.
Also my 642 is a heck of a carry gun down here. Just give them a quick wipe down every night and you'll be good.

its all about how you dress and what you're willing to put up with. My legs just aren't sexy enough for shorts so I wear jeans year round here in Orlando. I throw on an XL shirt and I'm good to go whether I'm carrying my security six, my XD45, or my p345. Most of the time I have my p238 in my pocket as well. If you are super heat sensitive then go with a pocket gun. If you can stand the heat then either jeans or even jean shorts will work fine too. Actually if it has belt loops to run a belt through you're good to go as long as you have a good belt. I prefer OWB as well

I carry a Glock 26 in the MTAC holster, year round. It has been around 100 here in Missouri for the past few days, and I think the gun/holster combination is about as good as it's going to get. I CAN carry the G19 in the same holster and it hides just as well under a bulky shirt (or sweater in the cooler months,) but the extra weight of more barrel, slide and ammo makes for a much less comfortable package - YMMV, of course.

What I can NOT do with the G19 is hide it in a SmartCarry, which I use when a bulky shirt is not appropriate. The G26 just disappears, though. Even with the GAP floorplate on the mag, which I much prefer to the stock floorplate.
