Which cheap guns to play with

Which cheap gun ( any caliber) is actually worth it's price and fun to shoot?
I know this is pretty broad but just looking for some opinions.

Any cheap gun is usually worth its (cheap) price.

Funnest for the money are the .22 pistols you can pick up used. Get you a Buck Mark or a Ruger.

Depends, do you want to shoot for a year with 3 jams per magazine? Or for 50+ years with very few jams?

Makarov, Bersa series, Walther P22, Ruger MKII.

At least the hi-point has a lifetime warranty. None of the others are worth the price, for just a bit more, the workmanship and reliability jumps ten fold...

I bought a barely-used Browning buckmark for $139. I consider this a cheap and fun gun, also accurate and reliable.

IMO, there aren't many cheap (NIB) guns that are truly a bargain. Of course, once you start looking at inexpensive used guns, it's a totally different story.

Of the cheap new guns you mentioned, I'd say the Hi-point 9mm is one of the better ones. The Lorcins, Ravens, Davis, Bryco guns are worthless. If you're on a tight budget, a Hi-Point 9mm can give you plenty of enjoyment at the range, especially considering the availibility of low-priced ammo at places like Academy Sports and Wally-World. It can also serve as a reliable home defence gun for those who can't afford a (insert favorite expensive gun here) . The Heritage Stealth series was pretty decent as well, but they're not seen as much as they were a few years ago.

As always, your mileage (and opinion) may vary.

How about a CZ52? Cheap, well made, and fun to shoot! Ammo is cheap too.
I picked one up a couple years ago for $119.00, and it's well worth it.

Makarovs are worth their ~$150 asking price, as are most of the other former East Bloc surplus pistols such as the CZ-50/52/70.

A favorite of mine are the little .25ACP pocket guns like the Beretta Jetfire and Bauer Baby Browning knockoff. They can be had for little over $100 in good shape on the used market, and they are lots of fun.

My least expensive gun has been my Taurus 22lr revolver. I'd buy another if CA approved them fo sale :banghead:

None of the manufacturers that you listed are known for making quality weapons. Buy yourself a Makarov. It's easy to maintain, built like a tank and it's plenty accurate. All of that for under $200, usually.

Another vote for the Makarov. It my be "cheap" in terms of the price tag but what you get is not a "cheap gun". I have been very impressed with my Makarov and use it as my carry gun...

If you can go $200 it is hard to beat the Walther P1 9mm pistols that Southern Ohio has. If not, go with the Makarov. Regards, Richard

Thanks for the input, I'm just wanted to hear some opinions,,,I've gots a few pistols for concealed carry but I've been thinking about getting something to just play with....

Check out the Star 9mm pistols. They are cheap to buy and cheap to shoot. The Star B that I have is the most fun to shoot handgun I have. The Star B and Super B are more or less the same thing, there are Star Firestars, BMs, BKs, PDs, etc. Most will run you less than $200 esp. the B an the Super B, they are about $130-180 depending. They are like an old WWII Colt .45 but a little slimmer and cheaper to shoot.

Bought one a few years ago for $129. Fun to shoot, reasonably accurate and takes care of small game and varmints just as good as a .38 Special if you keep the distances short. A wonderful blast from the past

I am not a fan of ''cheap'' ...... bottom end guns but did, on a whim last year .... pick up a new Phoenix HP-22 .... got the longer barrel with it too.

OK, it ain't a quality gun but thus far .. apart from some tweaks I had to do to mag catch .... it has been a great fun gun .... does seem to need cleaned to prevent too much crud building up .. the one thing that can seem to lead to cycling probs now and again.

If pushed, it'll even do as a mouse in pocket when minimally clothed.

the thought of trying to carry a Hi-point pistol makes my back hurt. AND how the heck wouldyou concel that brick. However, the Hi-point carbine is a wickedly fun little shooter. Accurate, ruged, utterly dependable- just don't look at it, you might go blind.
