Hello. I’ve never posted in the General forum before, but this one seemed like a good question for it.

What Manufacturers’ firearms can still be considered 100% “Made in the USA”?

I’m defining made in the USA as milled, machined, assembled, and shipped from a manufacturing plant located here in the United States of America, which employs American citizens.

I'm a big fan of buying American when our products are the BEST, which can easily be said for many firearms makers, even if not for our automobiles.

Off the top of my head, I think I have a few, but am not totally sure if they meet my definition. Please, anybody here feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. Also, post responses with ADDITIONS, and I will edit this post to add them.

For the purposes of this exercise I'm only including companies that TOTALLY produce their own guns, rather than those "boutique" makers who assemble pre-fab parts into high-priced speciality guns.

Thanks!

100% Made in the USA

1. Bushmaster
2. Caspian
3. Colt
4. Hi-Point
5. Kahr
6. Kel-Tec
7. Kimber
8. Marlin
9. Ruger
10. Smith and Wesson

You ned to remove winchester, as I believe some of the leverguns are made in Japan and certian shotguns are made in Belgum. But I believe that you can add Hi-Point

Yours have been added, except for Ruger, which I already and :neener: and Daisy. I'm going to check and see if they make firearms or just BB/Pellet guns.

Winchester can be removed from your list. They make rifles in Japan, and their US operation just closed.

Springfield gets its frames from Brazil.

The steel in most new guns probably now comes from China.

WINCHESTER is REMOVED! I just read the press release from their website. ***! How is it that one of the greatest AMERICAN rifle companies doesn't even make their guns here in the states!

Disgusting.

If a company feels that there is a chance that a switch of gov't could bring in an administration which would let people sue them into oblivion, tax them to death, and drown them in regulations, how could you blame them for moving to other countries which worship them when they arrive?

It's probably not that clear-cut, though.

No, no, Mr. President. You are thinking of Freedom FRIES, sir.

Group Captain Mandrake:neener:

[Edited to correct rank]

I bet every single company on that list uses at least a few imported small parts like screws etc., excpet maybe for caspian, but I dont think they actually make whole guns anyways.

Cooper (rifles)
Dakota Arms (rifles)
Freedom Arms (handguns)
Magnum Research (Desert Eagles)
Wilson Combat (handguns)
Ed Bown (handguns)
Thompson Center (Contenders)

The FNP series of handguns marketed by FNHUSA are made in US; I'm told no parts are imported and all guns are assembled in SC.
Same for the Browning PRO series.:)

Sorry - not trying to raise muck or anything - just curious.

I don't understand what you're saying. Are you a fan of buying American, or are you a fan of buying the best of whatever it is you're buying? If you felt an H&K were better than a S&W - would the H&K win regardless of the fact that it's not made in America? Trust me - I'm not trying to fault your decision making process - what I'm talking about would describe most of us. (hec - 20 years ago or so, I even had a Yamondazuki bike for about two months. And right now, I own two CZs)

I'm just wondering how something being made in America affects your choice. Hard to say from the original post.

Aren't the Desert Eagles made in Israel?

AFIK, it's an Israili company, but they have a factory here in MN. Not sure if they import parts from a foreign mother ship or not though. I was under the (possibly mistaken) impression that they made the CZ clones here.

KelTec magazines are/were made in Italy.

I don't own a single made-in-America weapon...until about 4 hours from now, when the wife fills out her 4473 for a new Ruger 10/22.

when the wife fills out her 4473

I think maybe you still don't own an American weapon.
You need your own 4473 with American label.

Good weekend for shootin
