Alright, which CZ for CCW? The RAMI or the PCR/p0-1
Caliber is 9mm, I am 5'10 250lbs Muscular with a few extra pounds (38" waist).

I voted for the P-01-that's what I have, and I find it prefect for CCW.

Having said that, you've listed two guns with very different features. The Rami has a safety for single-action carry, or it can be carried with the hammer at half-cock for a DA first shot. The P-01 has a decocker, and should always be carried at half-cock for a DA first shot. Which do you prefer? With the Rami, you'll have to either put the safety on or lower the hammer manually after you are done shooting. With the P-01, the decocker lowers the hammer for you.

The Rami is much smaller and easier to conceal than the P-01, but that also depends on your mode of dress. How do you intend to carry - IWB/OWB/fanny pack/pocket holster...?

The P-01 has more accessories available (nightsights, holsters...) and better ergonomics (for me at least).

Its funny, the first thought on my mind was the P01, then then RAMI followed suit very shortly as the next best.

The RAMI would be great for concealment, but its neither a pocket gun or a compact. Its sort of "in the middle" gun, so either way you're gonna end up carrying it somewhere other than in the pocket.

Therefore, if you're gonna end up carrying the RAMI on your hip, I'd rather just go with the P01 instead, where you can get a full grip instead of the pinky hanging off the RAMI. If I was gonna shoot the guns a lot, I'd much rather have the compact size than the "subcompact".

Get the P01 :)

It it's gotta be a CZ...

I'd go with the P-01 if you're comfortable with a larger & heavier piece than the RAMI for CCW.

Word on the CZ forum is that P-01s often come with gritty triggers out of the box although they improve after a few hundred rounds, or you can send it back to Mike Eagleshield at CZ to get it how it should have been in the first place.

You also need to determine whether you want the decocker of the P-01 or prefer the option of C&L carry with the RAMI.

The extended 14-rd mag from CZ or adding the Pearce XD grip extension solves the "dangling pinky" problem, but then the overall grip length is longer. I found that I am more accurate with this pistol when I can get all my fingers on it.

PCR is one of the best CCW guns available today, bar none. I like the option of getting all my fingers on the grip and having a hi-cap gun for CCW.

The RAMI seems fine, but I've never shot one. It's a small gun that I have trouble holding b/c I have larger hands. I guess if I wanted a pocket pistol I'd get a really small one, like a KelTec P32, for deep cover. Otherwise, I think a PCR is plenty concealable, crazily accurate, light, and fun to shoot.

I love my CZ 75 BD, and I love the PCR (lighter, similar capacity, just as accurate, etc.). I don't own one yet, but that will most likely be my CCW gun when I get one.

PCR. The RAMI is still too chunky and awkward for a pocket carry, but doesn't have the controllability of the PCR.

I prefer the PCR over the P01 for CCW, since it seems a wee bit less bulky to me and I don't need the rail for CCW. But that's a minor nit; either would serve you well.

Ah, a bunch of lads after me own heart....
I have both the PCR and the PO1,and both conceal easily for me, in an IWB, under a t-shirt. A good holster goes a loooong way to making any weapon concealable, and a bad one will turn you off in a heartbeat.
My wife carries a RAMI 9mm, in an HBE Specialty Leatherworks COMIII IWB rig, and loves it. She is not a small girl, and it conceals easily.
I use an Orca Bodyguard nylon IWB, and it conceals both the PCR and PO1 quite well, but I am still going to get leather soon.

I had to go with the RAMI for CCW because CZ does not make a P-01 with a manual safety and there is no other compact CZ with a alloy frame and a manual safety. Plus the RAMI is just barely bigger than a Glock 26 and I can carry a CZ SP-01 19 round magazine for backup (they work great in the RAMI) or even my 26 round Factory CZ mag if I wanted to.

I like the C&L carry and concealability of the RAMI. It's short grip and it's thin profile help cut down my "printing paranoia" and make it more comfortable when I sit or drive.

It's going to be my default carry piece once KS starts handing out permits. In the winter it will ride in the coat pocket. In the summer IWB. I have a P3AT for pocket carry but it's not as powerful or reliable as the RAMI.

My RAMI is in .40 S&W but I still find it quite controllable. I shot it in competition recently to work on my familiarity with it and get some confidence in the system. I shot about mid pack in Limited class, mostly against 1911s. For spare mags I pack full size for the extra capacity. Two 12 round mags do a really good job of balancing out the load on my belt with the 8 round mag in the RAMI.

My 2nd choice would be the PCR. I like 40 better than 9 and like C&L but the PCR is thinner than the P-01 or Compact in 40. I own a 85 Compact but being steel it's just too heavy for all-day carry. If I'm going to tote around that much weight and thickness I'll just add 2 oz and carry my 97B or pack the Delta Elite.

When I read the thread title, I was thinking 83. I've got to get with the times.

KS/ Whose tackle box gun is a CZ50. :neener:

Both the PCR and RAMI are outstanding choices for CCW.

I think it really depends on body type as to what you can hide the best.

I really like the PO-1 but the light rail makes it ever so slightly harder to conceal. (sort of like a mule nose) :D

My pcr is probably my favorite pistol, even over my 1911's.It's much more accurate than it has any right to be.

I picked P-01. I like to be able to have a little fun at the range with the guns I carry and, having held the RAMI several times, I just don't care for how abbreviated the grip is. I'd rather take a bit more trouble to conceal a slightly bigger gun than have practice be a chore.

I had to go with the RAMI for CCW because CZ does not make a P-01 with a manual safety and there is no other compact CZ with a alloy frame and a manual safety.
There's the 75 Compact, which does. Hard to find, though. If I could find one at a good price, I'd likely jump, as my 75B is one of my best shooters.

given the two, I'd go with the P01. I like having as much of a grip as possibble. I like the saftey and cocked and locked capability of the rami over the decocker of the P01.

though a CZ-75B dissapears just fine in an IWB holster. So I guess I'd just go with a CZ-75B or a CZ-75B compact.

Erik F,
The CZ-75 Compact has a Steel frame, I would only want an alloy frame for CCW like I mentioned.

should c&L or lowering the hammer on a live round noit scare you off, go with the RAMI.

My P-01 gathered dust after the Mini-Z arrived.

I carry either the CZ 75B or CZ 97B in a OWB holster.

I wish I knew who to give credit for this quote I read the other day, but I don't. However, it makes great sense. I'm paraphrasing here:

"Most men have 5-10 lbs too much in weight. What's a few more ounces in carrying a steel frame over an alloy frame?"

I would suggest that a good belt, made for either OWB or IWB holsters is a solution to many problems with carrying.

Sticking a $100.00 holster on a dress belt or a flimsy leather belt is folly. Without a good foundation, your building will not stand (for long). Same for using a good belt for a proper foundation for your holster .

I like the CZs. The ones I practice with are the ones I carry, loaded with Ranger Hps.

I'm about 5'11", 185, got a little gut (love to cook and eat), but always have the carry pieces on a gun belt. I use the Wilderness Instructor belt with the polymer inset, or belts from Jim, the Beltman, with polymer insets. All are 1.5 inches so I can wear them either with jeans or dressed-up.

Get a good belt and the few extra ounces won't matter.

Regards,
Steve
