Both? I shoot SA and DA revolvers. SA and DA semi-autos about the same...I am neither a revolver man or a auto man. I like certain revolvers and certain autos...
I flip flop between my .45s, a S&W 1911 and a 625 5" Bbl.
.45 ACP/Auto RIm. when I take them both to the range on
the same day. In my teens, I had the use of a .22 LR
Semi-auto for two years, then I bought my first handgun,
a S&W Model 18, so I had experience with both in the 1960s.
an ordered list of the rest of my revolvers in terms of how
well I shhot them,
617, 6" Bbl. FUN
60 3" Bbl. .38 Spcl +P,
686P 4" BBl .357 Mag
Got a Ruger SAA .357, S & W DA .357 and a 9MM auto. Always shoot better with the auto, but have to admit the sights are much better. With the Glock, I trained my self to not release the trigger all the way to give the perception of a single action for the the follow-up shots. This technique improved my shoot enormously.
Autos for any realistic type shooting. I shoot revos much better for standing there and doing 25yd DA or SA groups, probably because of the gun. I thought I was an auto guy three years ago. Now I have 5 wheels. And counting....
I do well with an auto, but the best I've ever shot was with a 4" S&W 686 that I had to shoot for a score in a Law Enforcement class. I shot a 293 out of a possible 300.
Best I've managed (with an M9) on a Marine Corps pistol range was a 368 out of a possible 400.
I think my times and accuracy are all pretty close no matter what I'm shooting.
The other day for the heck of it I was shooting a Bushmaster Carbon 15 pistol for accuracy and time and several times did better than with a "conventional" pistol, which suprised me.
I shoot revolver or auto just fine. I really don't have a preference in shootability, however, I really like revolvers. My autos are all DA or DAO for a reason. That's how God intended a defensive handgun trigger to work. JMB was blasphemous.
Because small, powerful autos (like my P11) are so concealable, I have a tendency to carry them more.
if you know the fundamentals of shooting it doesnent make any dirrerrence what kind of gun you shoot, thats just my opinion, of course, if all else being equal ,meaning the revolver and autoloader being the same accuracy wise, you should have the same results, autos are easier to shoot faster due to the autoloader features, but accuracy wise theres no reason not to have the same results.
Maybe just different purposes, but I feel I shoot fairly well with my competition 1911, however if I want to just stand and throw bullets through the same hole at 25yds, I go borrow my Father's Model 19 S&W. I do love the feel of that wheelgun.
