Yep...Glocks look good no matter what the situation. Beat up, scuffed up, covered in rattlesnake poop. They're only ugly until you shake 'em off and clear the barrel and fire a few rounds. And when they fire first time and every time they get really pretty.

M&P

Well I would have to say the M&P, I carry the 4.25" as my duty weapon and it is sooo fast and nice to shoot. I love my XD45c and it conceals better than the M&P. I would take the M&P over the XD anyday. You may however check out the new XD (M Factor) it looks pretty nice, but it might be a while before you can get your hands on one. The CZ is great, I have a clone that I love but it kind of depends on what you will be using it for. For me the most gun for the money would be the M&P in .40 or 9 mm followed by the XD45c and then the CZ75 in 9mm.
Good Luck and Be Safe!

Best Crud Kicker

Probably will say Glock after having a Glock 22 ,a fine pistol . Currently I have an M&P 9mm full size ,just as reliable and accurate ,although the jury will still be out for a while until it establishes a reliability record like the Glocks !

MY thing on glock is I recentley bought a Glock 19 for an bangaround gun and sold after my first day shooting it just couldnt stand the way it felt in my hand so I got rid of it if it wasnt for that I would still have it the gun was very functional.
Hey, I've got an idea, how about we stop suggesting Glocks to someone who repeatedly asked to not have Glocks suggested? Sound good?

Glocks are my first love but I'm seriously thinking about getting an XD .45 Compact next.

We know you don't like the G word, but to be honest, if you're going to beat the crap outta it and not care, it's one of the few weapons that doesn't mind.

+1

HE posted a poll and a thread presenting a question. When you ask a question it's kind of hard to rule out an answer in advance because you don't like it.
So if you can't pick one that he has listed, and you can't come up with another suggestion other than the only gun he asked to be ruled out, why post at all? You aren't required to say anything at all, ya know?.

That ruger P89/95 will care a LOT. Trust me, I have one and it's not happy unless cleaned on a regular basis.

There are a lot of good weapons out there. One poster recommended a old mil-spec 1911 that rattles like a 10 year old Ford. This may be a good choice as they are battle proven and 45ACP is easy to find almost anywhere you go.

Either way, GL!

There seems to be an unreasonable prejudice for and against some guns...including the Glock. It is exacerbated by the knee-jerk reactions of people on either side of the fence when their "opponents" make a posting.

When someone asks a question, and excludes one of the better answers, it doesn't hurt to ask him to reconsider...or ask him why he has eliminated what should be one of the logical choices.

Of course, you don't have to answer. No one has to post any answers. But are you really so offended by just the mention of the name "Glock" that you have to criticize someone who was trying to help?

FYI, I don't own a Glock and don't have any desire to buy one. However, if I found myself in a situation where I needed to count on a gun that had a reputation for working in the dirtiest conditions I would certainly reconsider.

That ruger P89/95 will care a LOT...

I own a P95 and while I agree with people about it's rugginess, I have no experience with it's operation under dirty conditions so I would never recommend it for such. Interesting to here someone post who does have such experience.

My suggestion is to review what guns have passed military testing...and particularly pay close attention to how they did in mud and dirt tests. On Youtube you can find a video where someone dunked a Glock in a swamp and it performed perfectly. He did the same test with a Beretta 92 and it would not cycle.

Some Glock abuse tests.

On the other hand, someone posted a follow up to this video where they said Sig's don't like sand so this isn't a test of their ability to run dirty.

And since he had already explained that he previously owned one, didn't like it, and won't consider another, do you think continuing to suggest this choice is valid?
But are you really so offended by just the mention of the name "Glock" that you have to criticize someone who was trying to help?
I'm not offended, I'm annoyed that people keep suggesting the one gun he has eliminated from his search. How is that helping? He could have just as easily said 1911 in place of Glock, and either way it wouldn't be helpful or constructive.

If you'll consider the original posts and the poll...there was a section of the poll for "other". Didn't say, "other than Glock". Most of the replies mentioning Glocks were tongue n cheek and not offensive in character. kcshooter, you seem more uptight over this than the originator. Having said that I'm getting out of this thread...maybe then you'll lighten up a little. Regards to all.

The P-85 barrel’s was plugged with a Steel rod and fired with military high-pressure M882 ammunition and the only damage was bent extractor that separated from the slide as the case was removed from the chamber. One P-85 had its entire right side of the ejection port removed and 2,000 rounds of M882 ammunition were fired with no signs of stress. The pistol was then subjected to 3,000 rounds of M882 ammunition. During both sessions the pistol was not disassembled or cleaned and was not allowed to cool during firing. At 1,000 round intervals the pistol was examined for slide fractures. After 5,000 rounds no damage was observed

If you would have bothered to read thru the thread, including the original post, it would have been obvious that "other" did indeed exclude Glocks as an option.

You're right. Some were. Some weren't. Was yours?

I was following the thread closely. There were some really great suggestions thruout the thread. But after his stance on Glocks was made clear and folks like yourself continued to suggest the one gun he didnt want to consider, it was annoying. It didn't have to be a Glock, he could have said no 1911's and I'd feel the same way. I just don't see why some people have to post just to post. If you can't bring anything constructive to the discussion, then just don't bring anything. If that makes me uptight in your opinion, well, I'm ok with that.
Have a nice day.

Sig 226 and the Sig 229, both pistols that can take a beating and keep on ticking.

I can't believe they way some folks low-rate Glocks. Is it because they're yugly? If that's it I can't argue with you.

I dont have any prejeduce agains glocks I think they are great pistols but due to the ergonomics of the grips I really cant shoot them very comftrably. If that wasnt an issue I wouldnt have made this thread and I would not have sold my glock after one day of shootin I am in no way trying to knock them. they simply dont work for me, if Im gonna buy the jeans they got to fit first. Ugly is obviousley not the issue as Im looking into an XD and I at this time am pretty sure thats gonna take the cake IMO the XD is the second ugliest gun out there hi point takes number one:p. The XD just really feels great in my hand and I like the way they shoot. Thanks for all the input and yes I also think this thread should be closed to many people getting carried away with Glock.

I agree. It's degenerated into a "cannot, can too" Glock vs no Glock thread.

Hopefully, the OP got some useful answers before the thread was closed.
