I'm looking to get a full size .40 Glock to go with my compact Glock 27, and I'm looking for something used to keep the price down a bit.

Right now I have two possibilities.

There's a used, factory refurbished Glock 22, that comes with 3 10-round magazines. Price, from a dealer friend is $400 + tax. So total price would be around $432. Nothing remarkable about it, just the usual reliable Glock.

There's also a used Glock 35, that comes with 2 10-round mags. I've been told the user is a pretty good home-gunsmith, and has done some smoothing of the action on this. Private sale, and he's asking $500. (I've also been told the owner is "known" for not budging on his prices.)

The model 35 has the longer slide, and adjustable sights, and assuming the owner has done the work right, has a smoother action to it.
I have a Glock 17 as well as the 27, so the 35 would add a different framed Glock to my "collection", which means a little to me.

But is the 35 worth $100 more than the 22? I've checked several local gun stores (both small shops and chain stores) and the going price for used Glocks in 9/40/357 is around $450. I can get a new Glock for about $600.

So which is the better buy? If not the $500, what price would make the 35 a better deal?

Here's another possibility if you don't object to a ported barrel: cdnninvestments.com has an excellent condition used Glock 22C with night sights and one 15-round magazine for $370 + shipping (+ whatever your dealer charges for transfer).

That's a deal-breaker for me, right there. A Glock can't take much amateur "smoothing", particularly the G34/35 models, which are set up for competition right from the factory. If someone's been fiddling with it, I don't want it!

I don't know what the market is like where you live, but both would be overpriced in Texas.

At a gun show in Houston, a new Glock 22 with standard sights is about $450, plus tax. Newer guns should come with standard capacity magazines. A new Glock 35 is about $540. It comes from the factory with the 3.5 connector and extended slide stop. Newer guns should also come with standard capacity magazines.

I would wait and find a nice used police trade in online from CDNN or somewhere else. They have been extremely inexpensive lately.

I guess it depends on what modifications were made, but I modified my Glock 35 with a Ghost connector, etc, polished the feed ramp and the other parts of the slide and barrel where there is friction, and it now has a much improved trigger and shoots very smoothly. I have used it in USPSA limited 10 competition very successfully, so I know that it is reliable. Perhaps it's what you are used to, but I find the Glock 35 to be among the best Glock offers, and for the money, one of the best pistols around...I also ditched the crappy sight in favor of Trijicon 3-dot fixed night sights for improved (IMHO) sighting.

Set up for competition from the factory? All that amounts to is their 3.5 conn., ext'd slide & mag releases.

Any of the 34's or 35's have seen could benefit markedly from the proper de-burring and polishing if done correctly.

He's not much of a friend with those prices. You can get it NIB with two standard caps for $465 shipped from www.ordnanceoutsellers.com I would avoid anything that has been fooled with by a "pretty good home-gunsmith." That could mean anything from a skilled armorer to an idiot with a dremel.

As a "Pretty good home gunsmith" myself. I'd also pass on anything tinkered with unless it included a full set of untinkered parts to get it back to factory spec or I'd want a heafty discount and plan on buying lots of new parts.

CDNN is a good source. I their newest catalog has police trade-in 22s with NS for $350. No porting.

You could also get a replacement upper for your 17 as an option IF the ejector is compatable. I haven't tried it myself.

I know you want to keep your cost down, but if you're willing to spend $400 on something used, why not save a little more and buy new? B&H Gunrack sells new standard Glocks for $440.00 plus $15.00 shipping. They also ship with standard capacity mags. This is just a suggestion, but for $455.00 plus dealer transfer fees you could have a brand new Glock 22 with two 15 round magazines. Here's a link: B&H Gunrack

If you'd rather keep the cost down and buy used, then I also recommend CDNN. Good luck with your decision.
