Which Glock to compare with XD9 Service?

I was already to buy the XD when a friend suggested I should at least look at and shoot a Glock.

i'm not asking which is better. I just need know which model Glock is closest to the XD9 service is size, wt, capacity, etc.

I plan to use it for IDPA, HD and (maybe) ccw

There is the comp Glock 34, the f/s service 17, the mid sized 19 and the sub 26. I think the one you're looking for is the 19

I'd check out a Glock 19 (midsize), or perhaps the 26 (subcompact). While the 26 is kind of uncomfortable to shoot due to the shortness of the grip, it's somewhat more concealable than the 19, and definitely more so than the 17 (full size 9).

When considering the XD vs. the Glock in terms of a CCW, keep in mind that the XD has a 1911-style grip safety, while for all intents and purposes, the only safety on a Glock is your own ability to not shoot yourself.

Definitely shoot both a Glock and an XD before you buy either, if possible. They are both excellent guns, but though they are similar in many regards, they feel completely different.

Take a look at the Glock 19, I compared the XD and the Glock I also done ots of research and talked to several leo's and came home with a new G19 last week, and it wasn't a whole lot more in price. I did add a Glock ny1 trigger spring to it today which gives a 8Lb pull but still is a nice clean pull and don't have to worry about it going off unless I put some finger pressure on it and the factory glock part cost 3 bucks. As for the grip safety yes the XD has one but just think when you holster it where will you hand be when you holster it, yes on the grip. BTW they are both great guns.

closest in size and such will be the 19 like was said above, you can try out the glock all you want but the xd's are hard to say no too. either way you go though you will be served well and will be purchasing a fine firearm.
