I'm looking at the Limbsaver and Pachmayr brands. These will be for older Tikka M695 rifles.

Thanks!

I did a Limbsaver for a custom Win M70 stock and it turned out great. Just follow the instruction or online videos. Actually pretty easy.

If you pick the Pachmayr look at the Decelerator 752B. It's a black pad one inch thick and it works great for a precision custom look. I think the Limbsaver is softer but if you store the rifle upright on the pad I would pick the Pachmayr because I have seen recoil pads deformed by storage and the Limbsaver is soft. I have the Pachmayr on several rifles and they work great. I have never used the Limbsaver but I have handled rifles with them installed. I noticed that McMillan charges more for the Limbsaver pad, don't know why?

I sure like the old Pachmayr white line waffle style. To me they're classy kind of old school

The Tikkas I'm doing have old Pachmayr pads. Maybe 1/2" thick. They made it 20 years but they need an upgrade. Recoil gets greater as I get older and a little more length would help too.

Those old Pachmayr 1/2 inch thick pads get really hard after about 20 years and they are only slightly better than a steel butt plate. You'll really notice a difference by installing a Pachmayr Decelerator 752B. Look at the Pachmayr website to see pictures of their pads. Another good thing about the Pachmayr is that they don't catch on your clothing when you shoulder the rifle.

The trick is to store the rifle with the the pad resting on something softer than it is. I use rubber floor mats from Harbor Freight cut into strips.
