My Wilson CQB full size or my Colt Combat Commander that my gunsmiths worked on. One has a 3.5# trigger the other is a 3# trigger. Scary fast double taps!
I will go ahead and be the first "wuss" to admit that despite my satisfactory shooting of my own .40 and .45s, I suspect the gun I can shoot the best, fast, would be my brother's CZ83 (.380) - despite my large hands it is perfectly ergonomic, has zero recoil, possibly the best trigger pull I have ever encountered on a semi-auto, and it is remarkably accurate. I'd be willing to bet a lot of others out there could also shoot this pistol better and faster than their favorite .45.
My fastest guns are the S&W revolvers I have. Either K or N frame, it depends on which I've been working with lately.
I can shoot a 1911 with fair rapidity. I shoot bullseye and shooting five rounds in ten seconds one handed is a pretty good exercise for rapid fire control. However, I must point out that multiple hits on the same target is an impressive trick, but not much practical value. Hits on multiple targets are useful, at least in theory.
Time to first good hit fast? Also one of those revolvers. They just seem to get on target faster than an autopistol. But probably not enough difference to make a serious advantage.
I'm deadly accurate on golfballs out to 25 yards with a Ruger MKII Target stainless (6 7/8 bbl). So much so, I would trust it for self defense. That skill transfers to large calibers (in semiautos), and especially to my CZ75B.
Or the NRA HiPower shooters who duplicated the feat for a CBS special documentary, one even got five shots on target in the time alloted!
For me its clearly the 1911. I've tried just about everything else. I do have an old AMT single action .380 back up, lousy sights not really very accurate, but practicing with it at three yards I could empty it fast enough that people though I was firing full auto -- I almost always kept all shots in the 8-ring of the old style police shilouete target. Thats why I usually think of the "mouse guns" as a single shot shotgun that fires serially.
9mm CZ-75B. Steel frame for some weight, fairly low bore axis, moderately light slide, pretty good SA trigger pull and a great grip. On a good day it`s like it`s on autopilot. Marcus
My Makarov is the fastest, auto style and still being accurate. The next would be my Arcus 94 I sold....the thing just didnt recoil at all. The CZ PCR with FMJ's in it is a nice shooter too.
Shoot well......
I'm very fond of my P226 and thought I was reasonably fast with it. Then my father came over last weekend with HIS 226...with Crimson Trace grips. I'd never used a laser sight before, but found it to be an awesome enhancement. Take a good combat handgun, slap on a first-rate laser system, and fasten your seat belt.
I suppose my 6" ruger gp100 in 357 mag with hks speedloaders.. seems the more I shoot it, the lighter the trigger gets.my ruger competition model would be a close second, the slide release is too small for my thumb and Im always searching for it..
Worst shouldn't be an indication of a poor gun or poor shooter. The Forty-Nine kicks the hardest and is DAO. I can still manage consistent on-target double and triple taps.
