Which Gun For CCW - Walther PPS Or S&W 3913

I own two Walther PPS models, one in 9mm and the other in .40 S&W. Either one is the real deal, in my view. As always, the best thing you can do it to rent or borrow one of each and see which of the two best fits your hand and eye. Just for fun, toss a Walther P99C into the mix and really surprise yourself.

Well for those interested I will take some photos of both tomorrow evening and post them for size comparison. I think I am going to stick with my 3913 for many of the reasons mentioned here. I have several holsters and extra mags for each of them so I am really not giving up anything one way or the other. That being said after I take the photos tomorrow evening I will probably post the PPS in the classified section. :D It is a great gun but I just don't need 2 very similar guns right now.

another vote for the PPS, I've had mine for about 2 years now and love it. It's the 9mm version and it's my carry gun, fits nicely into my Fobus paddle holster. Its very accurate and I've never had an issue of any kind. No experience with S&W though I do own a full size 40 cal M&P (great gun by the way).

Just some quick ones I snapped tonight. Nothing scientific. Keep in mind the S&W has Houge rubber grips on it which make for a bit thicker grip than the plastic ones. Overall length is very similar as well as height. The grip on the PPS is definitely slimmer and the overall thickness is also a bit slimmer on the PPS. The photo shown has a 7 round mag in the PPS. There are also six and eight round mags for it as well. The S&W has the standard eight round mag.

The PPS's extended "beavertail" that goes horizontal before you get to the end of it (second pic, post 33) relentlessly pounds my thumb bone when I fire a PPS. Maybe I'm the only one that finds that to be the case.
