I was just on the CZ thread and it was mind blowing, with over 2,000 replys and over 300,000 views, it seems the only one everyone agrees on are the CZ's. I know that can't be true.

I have listed a number of mfgs to take a poll as to what mfg is most popular with the members. While I know I have more than one from some of the mfgs, the poll should only reflect what you actually have in the house by mfg and not by number that you have.

So here goes and thanks for your time.

Jim

CZ site, CZ best...hmm. Not mind blowing. This poll should be a bit more impartial.

I assume that "MFG" stands for "manufacturers?" (I can't keep up with all those text-based abbreviations ... just found out what LOL means ...)

Did not realize this was a "CZ based site."

Markov = Makarov? ... Beretta, one R, two Ts

I have to appoligize, I left out Glock, my bad
There's people on this forum who own Glocks?

Quite a few people too. It was my error, I tried to edit the poll but do not know how. While Glocks are the last thing on my mind (what little there is of it) It was not my intention to leave anyone out.

Thanks
Jim

If it matters at all, Ruger makes more handguns than any other manufacturer in the US, and more than Glock imports, as well.

Don't know if that would really show up as a trend here at THR, but that's what the industry reports say. In fact, it makes about 120,000 MORE auto pistols, JUST IN 2010, than its nearest competitor, S&W. In fact, that was about 40,000 more autopistols sold by Ruger than were imported by the Austrian makers, that year.

I think if you counted their revolvers and .22s then yeah, that's probably true. However, I'd be very surprised if Ruger manufactured and sold more semi-auto, service caliber pistols than Glock or even S&W.

Btw, where is Glock and H&K on the poll? You are missing the two best polymer handgun manufacturers in the world!

I previously owned more guns on that list, including Kimber, Bersa, Taurus, Beretta, and Sig.

Other guns: Glock, FN, FM, High Standard...

Thanks schmidtundveßon,

That is some set of numbers. If I am reading the charts right, that is over 4 million pistols a year.

Glocks and Taurus are not a supprise on the imports, but what mfg is from Croatia?

Ah, the XD-9, didn't know Springfield Armory was from there.

Thanks
Jim

I forgot to give you the link so you could see for yourself. http://www.carolinaguntalk.com/PDFs/US Firearms Industry Sales July 2012 Russ Thurman Article.pdf

Ruger sold 120,000 MORE auto pistols, JUST IN 2010, than its nearest competitor, S&W. In fact, that was about 40,000 more autopistols sold by Ruger than were imported by the Austrian makers, that year.

When you add in the 192,400 revolvers Ruger ALSO made in 2010, Ruger made almost 666,000 handguns in that one year.

Even S&W made more auto pistols than Glock (and other Austiran firms) imported.

If for some reason you want to take .22s out of the picture, the Ruger still beat S&W by a considerable margin (about 77,000). That data isn't available to compare directly with Glock, per se.
