My new gen4 glock23 should come in on monday or tuesday and I am looking for some input on night sights for it. When I ordered it I had the option to get trijicons on it ($397 with regular sights $449 with trijicons), but I have been looking real hard at the truglo TFO or the xs big dot. I know the the xs have a larger front sight, but it will be used primary as a back up/off duty combat pistol and training will consist of mostly point shooting and minute of center mass accuracy is fine.

If you are considerting the XS big dots you should look at Trijicon's HD Night Sights. Just as good up close, better for longer shooting, and the rear sight is excellent for one handed manipulations. All around they are some of the best sights made right now.

The XS are great for that role, in my experience.

IMO, Trijicon are the best.

This is my opinion, based on my needs and what works best for me.
What may work best for you may be something entirely different than my needs.
Your mileage may vary considerably.

I've had a set of XS sights on my G23. They stink. They are super fast at 7 yards and extremly slow at 15 yards. Being that I really don't need sights a 7 yards, I feel they are pretty much useless. They felt like the cats meow for a while, until I had to hit a IDPA target at longer ranges.

Get a Warren Sevigney Comp plain black rear sights. .150" rear notch width. Or a 10-8 plain black rear sight with a .156" rear notch.

Any front night sight will do. They are all about the same. I like Dawson Precision.
