Which night sights?

First of all, congratulate me. I am finally going to get a CZ, in the 85B polycoat flavor.

One thing that has to go immediately, besides a shout out to Hakan Pek for some flame birch grips, are the sights.

Price is no object here. The competitors are yellow rear/green front Trijicons or XS intermediate dot over "i."

I am partial to this one, but have never tried it or had it before:

And the yellow/green Trijicons are on most of my pistols already and therefore familiar.

So, input is requested.

I voted for the XS sights, but havent tried them yet(still waiting on my pistol to come home). Ive heard all the hype and reviews, so I decided to order a set for my springfield XD. I went with the standard dot, and the 24/7 front and rear. In theory and pictures it looks like a awesome sight, but Ill let everyone know my experiences with it after my xd comes back from springfields factory.

BTW, congrats on the new pistol, I like it .(though I assume thats not a picture of yours due to the xs sights being on it.

The pic is of a CZ-75B .40S&W from the XS site. I suppose that if I bought them and they didn't work out for me, I could probably get most of my money back if I took them off and sold them.

How soon until yours come back? It might be before I buy.

It shipped to the factory two weeks ago yesterday. Im expecting them back sometime this week, . Ill shoot you a pm or post here when they come in. I handled some units in the store, and was very impressed. I went with the standard dot to allevitate the obsuring the target issue, so the front post will still be larger than a regular sight post, but hopefully not too large. I like the looks, I like the feel and sight picture, still waiting to see if I like them when shooting.

I use a set of 24/7 Big Dot on my XD9 and HS2000. A "fast" pick up of the front sight enables quick target accquisision at close range. I've also had no problem hitting 4" steel at 20yds. For my P7M8 I use the XS standard dot tritium front and an MMC rear with tritium under the rear notch.

I got a set of XS Big Dot sights and couldn't hit with them. Granted, I didn't spend a lot of time trying to master them and I might have gotten used to them. But, I spend a couple days practicing with them and shot one IDPA match with them and my accuracy went down the toilet.
I have talked to at least one other person that had them and liked them. In fact someone had them in my Gunsite 250 class and they didn't say anything negative about them, so maybe it is just me.

You know. I was a Trijicon man myself until my new G30 came from the factory with Meprolites. I kinda like 'em!!

Why not? Trijicon makes the tritium sights for XS to "their" specs. The Bid Dot is "not for everyone," however, the small or standard dot tritium has a "greater" degree of white(PVC or whatever?) around the front sight than either Trijicons or Metro's. This "draws" the eye toward the front sight better than three circles "all the same diameter." With 24/7 Big Dot's I've done "head shots" at an indoor range(idpa) that your flashlight was the "only" light. However for everyday general use I run XS small dot tritium on the front sight of a P7, P9, PM9, coupled with rear sights by MMC, Trijicon, and Metro.

They're both great sights. Nice and boxy so it is easy to do Gun Fu on them. I personally prefer the plain jane three dot setup over the Express setup. Try 'em both and see which one you like. Ideally, try them on some one else's gun first.

I have a set of the XS 24/7s on my Para C7.45. I have no trouble keeping the whole magazine load in the A-zone out to 25 yds. The sacrifice of a bit of precision at intermediate ranges for a whole lot faster (for me, at least) sight acquisiton is one I'm willing to make in a compact CCW piece.

I put Meprolites on my Star M43. Still working fine over twelve years later. FWIW, they were the only ones available when I bought it. Dead-on for elevation with 124 gr., just like the stockers. Speaks of thorough engineering, if nothing else.

I believe the ones on my Springfield Champion are Novak's. I think that they're made by Trijicon, but I could be mistaken. They came with the gun and work just fine whoever made 'em.

Given my middle-aged eyes, my only gripe with any of them is the lack of contrast in either size or color with most of them. Seems to be more of an issue as the half-life starts to peter out and they get dimmer. Especially noticable on my old LEO trade-in 4586 which is still wearing its original set after who knows just how many years. Very difficult to line up quickly now, and due for changing.

I may try a set of MMC adjustables on it. Same money as factory replacements and I'll get to try contrasting colors.
