Actually, it'll be MUCH better. Like the M82A1 there's no COMB on a Barrett M95; the receiver is straight and level all the way to the buttstock.
But the rail is not raised, it's mounted flush against the receiver.
That led to my first firearm's related injury after I did some shooting on it. The cheekweld I had to hold with the stock rings/rail was VERY firm against that receiver. When fired, the receiver would recoil sharply (obviously), and it TORE my sinus tube running under my cheekbone. This led to the mother of all sinus infections, which I didn't get treated right away.... It ended up costing me almost $4,000 in medical bills. The infection spread to my inner and outer ear, as well got in to my CHEEKBONE AND JAW. Would have killed me if we didn't have such potent antibiotics. I was on these big frigging horse pills for 3 months straight.
Anyway the rifle got put up for quite awhile. The solution I have found to this issue, if you have the same issue, is patroleum jelly on your cheek. It lubricates the contact point between you and the rifle and allows the receiver to "slide" under you when it recoils without tearing your cheek up. A little nasty, perhaps, to put goop on your cheek, but it works fine.
The higher rings will be welcome, but I need to find a STEEL rail that can replace the long one that is mounted on the receiver right now.
Got "call Barrett" on my list of stuff to do this spring.
