Hello everyone,

So I am in the process of working up a load for an upcoming antelope hunt I’m going to be using my Xbolt hunter long range chambered in 6.5 PRC I will also be using my TBAC Ultra 7

I have 3 bullets I am testing and 2 powders at the moment “if all Loads were the same accuracy wise”

what bullet would you use?

the bullets I’m testing are as follows

Barnes 127 grain LRX
Nosler ABLR 129 grain
Hornady 143 grain ELD X

THIS hunt will be in Wyoming and I want a bullet that will pass through completely 2 holes bleed better than one

So which sister would you take:evil:?

For accuracy, I haven't found anything that beats the ELD-X. I'm testing some TTSX in 300wm and the accuracy is close, but I haven't killed anything with them yet. At this moment, for any shot over 300yds, ELD-X is my vote.

All of the above should punch through an antelope...or mule deer.

I think the concern might be under-expansion with the two heavier constructed bullets at longer ranges. I'd go with the ELD-X. Better ballistics across the board, and more likely to perform at longer range impact velocities. Also the cheapest of the 3, so you can get in lots of long range practice and actually put them where they need to go.

The ELD-X will buck the wind a little better than the LRX. Both are devastating on an antelope. I personally go with the 127 LRX in my 6.5 Creedmoor because I was able to load up an accurate round that I was happy with. I also have the option of hunting the entire season, so I can skip the super windy days if I want (sometimes). If it’s a planned trip, do some experimentation on a windy day and see which you like and bring one…..or both!

This is assuming you have already tested the three for accuracy and all are acceptable. The ELD-X seems to have better long range accuracy in my testing but most of my extensive testing is with .308 projectiles in 300 WM and 300 WSM so there's that..

I tried the ELD x in both 30cal and 6mm, the 30cal is a little heavier than the 165 and 168gr I had tried before but shot very well in 30-06 at 300 and 600yrds. The 6mm shot great in a 243win enough so I purchased 500 more. I've not tried the Barnes or Nosler so I can't do a comparison only give a suggestion.
