I thinking of buying one of the two next month and I'd appreciate any input/opinions on these two pistols. I will be using it for informal (non-competition) target shooting. Thanks. nero

Nero, for what they cost a lot of us would make different choices. At that price level true full custom guns are definately in play......

X5

I just got an X5 today. I have not shot a 952 but I have a model 52 with a Bar Sto barrel. The X5 is quite a bit heaver but it seems to point better. I will let you know how it shoots. In my house it going to have some stiff competition. I have a P210-6, Full custom David Sams 92F both will shoot 10 shot groups under 1.5 inches at 50 yards from a rest.

I personally would skip them both and go with a hi-cap from STI/SVI or some custom.

However, between the two here, I have become partial to the X-Five.

I's sure either would be fine but I voted S&W as the mod 52 S&W was a dedicated target gun and known for it's accuracy and I like the looks better.

952 or X5

Well I got to the range yesterday. I ran about 175 rounds through the X5. I also took the Sig p210. The X5 is a very easy shooter. it's almost like shooting a 22 due to its weight. As far as head to head the X5 in my hands beat the P210-6. I shot 20 rounds from 25 yards free hand 10 from the X5 with 7 in the x ring and 3 in the 9 ring. The P210 had 5 in the X ring, 3 in the 9 and 2 in the 8. The weight of the X5 is the key for me.

This is very appropiate. I'm going through the same thing.. I want a p210-2, can't find the one I want. I'm leaning towards the X5 too, or someone has some idea about a custom gun, I'm all ears. I love the Smith trigger.
Any other opinions???

Thanks

I have the S&W952-2, my friend has the X-5. X-5 has much bigger grip. Both have excellent triggers. Both are pretty good sized guns. The 952 is very similar to the 9mm 1911 from Baer. 952 has an odd safety.

I can't vote, either one would be an excellent choice. As far as comparing them to full customs I also think you would have to spend a lot of money to get one that will consistantly beat either of these.

I have both of them as well as some other high end 9mms. I like the trigger on the PC952 slightly better, but I like the grip on the X-Five. both are outstanding.

The P210 is great as well. Its also worth a good deal more than either of the others. The Pardini has the best trigger of the bunch.

Here's a pic I took before of my range 9mms. My X-Five is the level 1, which has the adjustable trigger and Nill grips over the Competition model.

My 952 is the blued -1 model, not the stainless -2, but otherwise the same.

Left to right: Sig P210-6, Sig Sauer X-Five, Smith & Wesson PC952, Sphinx Competitor, Pardini GT-9.

I've been trying to think of a way to buy an X5. Before that I wanted a 952, now I want both. But a 210 appeals to me now that I think about it. I hadn't considered a Pardini until now. Thanks a lot for complicating my life. Actually I'm planning on building a 9mm 1911 with a friends help. He did such an amazing job with my .45 1911 and is willing to walk me through building my own. My Kimber Stainless Target 9mm got me started on thinking of the economic benefits of shooting paper with 9's.
