If you needed to sell some guns and this is what you had to work with, which order would you sell?

(my order of first to sell to last to sell)

Ruger 10/22 SS synthetic stock with scope.

Mossberg 500 with M4 stock, side saddle shell carrier, 18" breacher barrell, and 21" modified choke field barrell.

Ruger LCR 38+P

AR-15 Bushmaster E2S-X15 w/ HBAR and FF rails.

FNP-9 9mm

Springfield XD45 Od green 4" .45 ACP, w/ Springer Precision trigger job and heinie straight 8's.

Thanks a lot Oregon economy!

I'd dump duplicates and those couple high-dollar/screaming-deal bought-'cause-it's-great-trade-fodder firearms I have.

For example, I have about five(?) M-95 Steyr long rifles. I only shoot one. Likewise, I have a couple Enfields, one is tigerstriped, the rest are just placeholders. And I've got a battered but righteous non-import no-safety completely matching TT-33 I have no sentimental attachment to, originally got for $250 and could easily flip for a grand.

Last to go would be my New Model Mannlicher and my best tiger Turk M38, Finn M-39, and Winchester '95.

I have to agree with Ala Dan on this. I recommend finding other things to sell. I would work for minimum wage before selling any firearms.

If, and only IF you couldn't sell the wife first, or at least the baseball card collection, I think the "order" is correct except for the switching of the FN with the Mossberg. You have the basics for almost any situation with the AR, the shotgun and the .45. Just my two cents.

HOPE IT DOESN'T COME TO THAT.

I'd swap the 9mm and the 10/22 and move the LCR to second. I'd leave the Mossberg third and press the XD into HD service. With tough times, the 10/22 is the most economical to shoot and will allow you to keep you skills honed for minimum cost. Plus, it won't bring as much.

I don't disagree with Byrd666's point, but I'm a .22 guy, so my choice reflects my bias. YMMV

Those are all great guns and it seems you have your bases covered. Unless you are hurting for the money or are moving into a place where you are not allowed to have guns in the home, I would advise on keeping them.

the worst thing I ever did was sell my guns when I was strapped for cash.
I still regret it.
the guns I sold have at least doubled in price.

I would look at other items to sell first.

Id pick the one i dont want to sell the most put it up throw the rest up for sale and let the people with cash pick what goes first

Ruger 10/22 SS/ Mossberg 500/ Ruger LCR
These three are common guns easily replacable anytime, if really hurtin these would go first.

AR-15 Bushmaster E2S-X15/ FNP-9 9mm/ Springfield XD45
These cost you a pretty penny and while great guns are not going to bring back as much as you have in them. I would have put the FNP in the top bracket but they no longer make it so that should also go into consideration on retention.
As to my personal feelings I would sell my other stuff before letting my firearms go.

I'm sure the original poster would also if he were in your situation. Since he's not, it's pretty irrelevent to him. Notice the highlighted words in the quote below:

First line, original post:

If you needed to sell some guns and this is what you had to work with, which order would you sell?

Given that we have very little info on what the OP is trying to accomplish or what his monetary situation is (being evicted from house, need medicine, etc), a little more info would be nice.

Do you like to shoot?

The 10/22 is MUCH cheaper to shoot than any of the others. Keep it if you want to keep shooting.

Do you have a concealed carry license and actually carry the LCR frequently?

If not, any of your other weapons will work for home defense purposes, you can CCW either of your other pistols if you feel the need badly enough.

My order would be:

1) Ruger LCP (either of the other pistols will do the same job)

2) FNP-9 (XD45 will do the same job)

3) AR15 (easy to replace and AR15's keep coming down in price)

4) XD45 (nice to have a pistol, but sometimes you gotta do what you have to do)

5) 10/22 (would allow me to keep shooting until I had to sell it)

6) Mossberg (I would keep the shotgun till last as a home defense weapon)

If you don't care about continuing to shoot, move the 10/22 to the top of the list.

I would sell the AR first. It is worth the most and hopefully may allow you to keep the rest. Unfortunately, the market is kinda flooded with 'em right now.

Sorry - nothing there I would buy or own - and why are you blaming the Oregon economy?

If you want to keep these guns, then maybe you need to look elsewhere for employment so as to be able to keep them

You are presenting something that is highly a personal preference. A lot depends on what roles those guns play. I would find other means of getting by but to consider your situation I would sell your home defence gun and your carry gun last.

^ What he said.I would rather live off P&J sandwiches for weeks than give up any of my guns.

Wow, some really insightful intelligent replies thank you! Some donkey replies as well. Thanks for the chuckle NTL.

I will NOT sell my Romainian G model AK.

I will NOT sell my grand dad's 19-4 S&W.

This is why the list was created in the way it was, I should have posted that.

Reason for selling? Have to move for a new job. I am going to try really hard not to sell any of them but I have to stratigize for this question.

I love the XD and the FNP both, probably would not sell both. If I had to sell one, the XD is more valueable I'd say. The AR is underwater due to market saturation, the Ruger is cheap, very little yield. Mossy same story.

The AR and the XD can be sold for the most money and still leave me armed pretty well. The problem is that I have the most 5.56 and .456 ACP ammo out of all of them....A VQ for sure.

1) Lay out all your guns.

2) Then remove the first gun you bought and any firearms you inherited. Those go back in the safe because they're either sentimental or irreplaceable.

3) Sell off the rest in the order that you bought them. The theory is that the more recent guns are the result of having tried and grown weary of earlier purchases. After some trial and error you finally found the gun you really wanted. So keep the more recent purchases.

Alternatively,

3)(a) Sell off the guns in reverse chronological order. The approach there is that you originally purchased the gun or guns you really wanted and then filled up the collection with hardware that merely caught your fancy.

There's another option, the brutal option. You stated in an earlier post, "I will NOT sell my Romainian G model AK. I will NOT sell my grand dad's 19-4 S&W."

And there's your answer. One handgun, one battle carbine and everything else goes.
