Update: After all this discussion, when I finally got to loading the 150 gr TTSXs for my .300WM I went with IMR 4831. I chose that powder because it worked very well with 165 gr TSX bullets in this rifle. Turns out my rifle loves Barnes bullets over a max/near max charge of IMR 4831! The 165 gr TSX over max charge of IMR 4831 was the best load I developed for this rifle, running at a consistent 1 MOA. I just wasn't happy with expansion on game, so that's why I tried the TTSX. I went with the 150 gr TTSX because it has almost the exact same length as the 165 gr TSX that my rifle shot so well. In any case, here are a couple targets. The first shows my test loads. The load labeled "8" is 76.0 gr of IMR 4831, which is the max charge according to Hodgdon and just under Barnes published max charge.
That 3-shot group is 1" max spread. I loaded up enough of that to cover me for hunting for several seasons (or less if I target practice with it) and went to the range to sight in for the opener of rifle next week. The upper left hole is the sighter, followed by the 3-shot group in the middle, followed by one shot after a windage adjustment. I would've like to continue adjusting windage, but didn't have the time. No matter, it appears to be only off by <1/2" at 100 yards.
That 3-shot group measure 3/4" max spread! Couldn't be happier with this! This is from a stock Ruger Hawkeye (except I changed the trigger spring). If this bullet performs on game like I think it will, I'm going to stack these bullets DEEP!
