Which rifle

I thought that I would post this just for fun...if you could pick only 1 Semi Auto Rifle which would it be...AK 47...Mini 14...AR 15...Mini 30...and please give a reason for your choice

Accurate, reliable, and is the perfect platform to add on "stuff" peice by peice, so you can buy parts at your own pace

I swore 30 years ago never to own one of the crappy M16 style rifles, since then changes have made it a very good choice. But I swore on it, so I'll choose the next best thing. The AK47.

Why would anyone pick a mini over either of the other two? They ain't even in the same ballpark. I picked the AR cuz I root-root-root for the home team.

I'm committed to 7.62X51 so AK was my only possible choice.

AR. High quality, low recoil, high re-sell value, better sights, better erginomics, MASSIVE amount of aftermarket parts, more accurate, you can easily replace the uppers to fire different ammunition, and its an AMERICAN design. The only things the AK has over the AR is lower price and more reliability. But in all realistic cituations the AR will be just as reliable.

Neither, M1 or M14 for me, needs to have none of the above as a choice, Mini-14 and 30 are in a different class than the AR and AK's

First choice would be a M1A but since that wasn't listed I'll go with my second favorite the AK-47. By the way I'm lucky to own both(bought the M1A first).

Why b/c i just brought home a wasr 10 . Their cheap ammo is cheap and the can go thru hell and just keep going .

AR -- it's just the best all around design of those you listed.

AK -- second choice. Poor control layout, heavy and bulky ammo for what it does, so-so accuracy.

As for the Mini-14/30 -- They're okay. Never excited me enough to justify the prices they're charging for them nowadays.

Of course, a lot of it depends on what you need the rifle for.

But I'm in CA so my choices would be limited to the Mini-14 or 30.

Given teh choice I'd rather have an M1A.

But If I culd have any on your list it would be the battle proven almost indestructible AK. After reading Nomad, 2nd's Contractor Shooting Package Days 1-5 Why get an AR. Clearly AK's are more durable, reliable and probably more accurate.

I've shot all four -- enjoyed shooting all 4 too. Several months ago, I purchased my first AR as a result of CA's OLL deal and I have to say, there is just something about shooting & owning an AR15 that really is satisfying

First off I'd pick a real rifle like an M1 or M1A, and not a carbine. But if I had to choose from your list I'd take the AR. Ammo and parts are plentiful and it is the most accurate of the four. I'm afraid I have to admit to owning one

But I have 11 M1s and M1As!

AK...Reason? Far tougher than any of the other choices(especially the Ruger's ) and I prefer throwing .30 caliber bullets.
