Which route would you go: CZ 712 Utility or Mossberg 930?

I'm considering trading out two pump guns toward the cost of my first semi-auto shotgun.

Because I really seem to enjoy making life difficult for myself, I want a short barrel (18-20 inch) gun that is threaded for choke tubes, drilled and tapped for a scope mount, and within financial reach (that means a Benelli M2 or M4 is out).

No such gun exists in stock form so i can either buy a short barreled 930 and have it threaded for chokes (assuming the outside bore diameter is large enough) or buy the CZ and have a gunsmith drill and tap it for a scope mount.

The gun will be for the close range brush country hunting of all non-flying game as well as possible home defense.

Most if not everyone will tell you to go with the Mossberg. They do have a good reputation with most people, but I've owned 3 of their pumps and had problems with all of them. Those experiences have left a bad taste in my mouth and don't think I'd ever own one again. I'm not bashing Mossberg, they just aren't for me

With that said, I recently bought a used CZ 712 and absolutely love it. It has to be one of the most under appreciated autoloader out there. It has shot everything I have put in it and shot my best round of skeet with it a couple weeks ago.

My vote is the CZ.

I can only say for the CZ 712, my first ever semi auto shotgun, very easy to use, no problems so far with standard and light-medium loads. Already had two people try to buy it from me. :)
