well I look forward to getting my second heritage big bore pistol in 45 colt and will carry two of these for extra fun! :) next will be tryin my hand at handgun hunting with these soon...

My next "SAA" might be one of these, a Uberti "Frisco" .45x7½". Faux pearl grips that actually look pretty good and "charcoal" blue (actually nitre blue).

You may know more about SAAs than me, but your reading comprehension is really bad.
Stop using personal comments to deflect attention away from the fact that you don't know what you're talking about.

Maybe you're Craig's brother in law or something, but you now what they say about opinions, they're like that other thing everyone has one of.
We know all about opinions. This is the internet, where uninformed opinions are placed on an equal playing field with informed opinions.

Says the guy who for three pages misinterpreted an obvious statement, proving he didn't know what he's talking about. Why don't you man up and cite where I don't know what I'm talking about, or retract that untruth?

Try it before you buy it. I have one Uberti and it has the raspiest hammer pull Ive ever encountered in a revolver. The trigger is great but the hammer feels like its going to fall apart cocking it. Casting flaw in the frame.

they make small needle files to fix that! :) quote, Try it before you buy it. I have one Uberti and it has the raspiest hammer pull Ive ever encountered in a revolver. The trigger is great but the hammer feels like its going to fall apart cocking it. Casting flaw in the frame.

I usually do but won't have the opportunity on this one. If I bought one tomorrow, it would be my 14th Uberti. I also do my own action jobs on SAA types. I'm well aware of what to expect.

Uberti frames are forged, not cast.

Or the antiqued version.

I like the EL Patrons when it come to the Uberti's. They have Wolf springs and are given alittle more attention for fit and finish.

Nothing wrong with the basic Cattleman either.

I am thinking about buying a 4 3/4" Uberti just for spinning practice. I always feel really bad when my Colts hit the floor :).

retiredusnchief I tried looking at your pics but some reason it won't let me and I have no idea why??

Try this. The previous link was supposed to be to the target picture in this:

A couple postings before that one and you can see my Peacemaker:

In case neither post links work, here's the whole thread:

That's the only gun I've ever bought that literally fell apart, after a few hundred cowboy action loads. Apparently it was 'antiqued' a bit too much. :)

Agree, the antiqued version doesn't seem to fit with the rest or your guns Craig. The Frisco, unused, would look at home with your collection. Speaking of charcoal....Does the charcoal blue fade to antique finish with exposure to UV or handling or solvents?

What the import makers market as "charcoal blue" is not really charcoal or carbona blue but actually nitre or fire blue. It's a very fragile finish that will probably look like the antiqued model after a year of holster use. My engraved Open Top is a good example to show the difference. The screws are nitre blue and the rest is real charcoal bluing.

I love the old blackpowder Colt's but would have a hard time laying down the coin for a worn out gun. I like the idea of a new gun that looks 100yrs old. I'm also going to be taking my leather work more in 'this' direction and antiqued guns go best in antiqued leather.

is the CCH on that "Frisco" pictured the way Uberti is shipping them now, or was that one sent out and done by someone else? That looks a LOT better than the faux CCH I've seen on most Uberti's

The pic I posted was stolen from an auction listing. The one I've handled looked similar. I think Uberti is doing a little better with their colors as of late.

PS, the leatherwork pictured is from the late, great Chuck Burrows, whose work is a huge inspiration for me.
